I have been told that there have been several reports from different mail lists and USGenWeb sites that people posting queries are being contacted by individuals offering to send information for a fee. THIS IS NOT THE INTENT OF USGENWEB or ROOTSWEB !!! Query pages within the USGenWeb project are for those researchers requesting or offering assistance in tracing their lineage. Of course, reimbursement for copying fees or postage is not the same as being solicited by someone. I do have someone listed on my Clay County reference page as a researcher for a fee. Some people have requested this information. Contact with this person would be initiated by you, so if someone contacts you, out of the blue, offering to do research for a fee, it might not be legitimate. Cathy Barnes Listowner and... I'm looking for information about the KOLLMAN family that lived in or near the Western District of Clay Co., Ark. in the early 1900's. I am especially interested in Annie or Abner KOLLMAN. I think they were probably born 1870 or 1880 something. Cathy Barnes bbarnes@cswnet.com
Some of the new subscribers may not be aware of the following information from the RootsWeb Staff... RootsWeb accepts only plain text mail. That means that HTML mail, attachments, ``enriched text'', and a few other formats can't be sent to RootsWeb mailing lists. You can post your message if you send it in plain text; turn off the ``Post in HTML'' or ``Enriched Text'' features of your mail reader, or don't use any attachments. See http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/listowners/html-off.htm for instructions on turning off HTML in most of the popular mail programs, or ask your ISP's technical support line for help. We've had to institute this policy because of the problems that accompany these fancy mail formats. Some people don't have mail programs that are capable of processing the special file formats. Even among those who do, different mail programs handle these special formats in very different and confusing ways. HTML messages pose special problems to our digested mailing lists. Most of all, HTML-ified mail and attachments place a considerable burden on RootsWeb's overworked machines. All in all, mail in this format produces a lot of problems for RootsWeb's servers and subscribers, so we find it's best just to use plain text. -- The RootsWeb staff
Help .....My grandfather Daniel Alexander Bradley (bn 12 July 1866 Thackeray, Hamilton Co ILL.) married Emma Smith (bn 8 Mar 1883 Rector, Clay Co Ark.) on 4 Sept 1901 Clay Co Arkansas. I know by the 1890 Census of Clay Co Ark that Emma's mother name was Elizabeth born in Ark and that Emma had a brother named William bn 1885( he married Bazzle) At the time of the census also Elizabeth is widowed. Emma's father was bn in Ky. What was Elizabeth's maiden name, and who was and where from was Emma's father. Do any of the Smith's presenly living in the area tie into this family?
