    3. Thanks to the great Sumner Co GenWeb site I have located new info on my Gates line. I am research J.P. Gates b abt 1781 in PA and wife Elizabeth (?) Gates born about 1787 in NC. I am trying to establish that J.P. is my gr gr gr gr grandfather. According to the marriage records the following were married in Sumner Co TN. I believe both to be sons of J.P. and Elizabeth. I also believe J.P and Elizabeth may have been living in Sumner Co or nearby. Michael Gates (my gr gr gr grandfather) to Caty (Catherine?)Ann Cline on 28 May 1830, bondsmen were Valentine Gates and A.F. Young. Valentine (;) yes he is a male) Gates to Anna May, 1 July 1830, bondsmen were May, Pleasant, and A.F. Young. Also of interest to me were the following Cline marriages: Cline, Anny to Meredith Trout 27 Dec 1834 Cline, Elizabeth to John Cline 27 Mar 1837 Cline, Malinda to Peter Travelsted 28 Nov 1844 Cline, Margaret to Edmond Bracken 12 Mar 1831 I am especially interested in the Elizabeth and John Cline marriage. The Gates line and John Cline appear to have removed Sumner Co by 1850-1860 and appear in the 1850 and 1860 Lawrence Co MO census. By 1860 it appears that Elizabeth Gates (J.P.'s wife) is a widow. She is living in the home of John Cline in Lawrence Co MO. I would like to determine where J.P. died. It was either Wayne Co IL or Lawrence Co Mo, or posssibly in route from one to the other. Any help or info would be appreciated. 3. I am tracing my Gates line in Clay and Randolph Co. This particular line I believe was in Clay Co. I am hoping to connect with someone who has knowledge of William Gates who was married to Marsha (Marshie) They had 2 children, who I will not name as they are still living. My information is scanty as I am trying to do this long distance for a second cousin that I do not know, and who has given me very little to go on. James Henry Alford Gates, was the father of the above William. It is possible that this James was the son of Michael Gates. Father of James Henry Alford Gates, was William Earl Gates, William had a brother named Newton. If you have any info on this family I would very much appreciate your help. Gena Gates Lally Mesa AZ
