    2. Margrett
    3. Hi Dolores; We have talked before.. been a long time. _____________________________________________________________ My Richardson line came to Carroll CO. AR. in 1850 from TN.and there are still Richardson of this line in the area. Samuel K. Richardson and his wife Elizabeth Jane Harvey. Both lived out their life and raised a large family in Carroll CO. Back in TN, Samuel was married first to Jane Hassler and had 4-5 children. Jane Hassler's sister's (2) were married to men named Funk. This surname connected to an Elizabeth Funk that married another Samuel Richardson (not my Samuel) but am wondering on the if any connection. I do not know the parents of my Samuel K (1806) or his brother Thomas L(1808) or a Sister Mary Ann that all ended up in the Northwest AR. Area. Census Records show the parents were born in SC or NC. Wondering if your book has any clue to this Richardson line? Thanks ................................Margrett "Richardson" McCorkle

    1. Re: [ARCARROL] I need some help /look up
    2. Cora, A few years ago, early in my AR research, I visited a cemetery where I had been informed some of my ancestors were buried. Walking through the cemetery I found a gravestone for a man, I believed was a relative and his wife. There were birthdates and photos of both, but no death date. A few days later I ws driving on one of the contry roads attempting to locate the land listed in the land patent records as having been homesteaded by my gg-grandfather about 1860. As I passed a man came out of a small farm building and the site of him took my breath away he was so much like my deceased grandfather. I drove on down the road and composed myself, the turned a round and the gentleman was about to cross the road. I stopped and talked with him. He and my grandfather are related. The key fact in this account is this is the man named on the gravestone I found in the cemetery. He and his wife bought their gravestone and placed it in the cemetery to reserve their gravesite. I l! ater notice a gravestone for the minister of the church the family attended, he is not yet deceased. It appears that unlike in most areas the graves lots are not sold. Genealogist from the community have walked through the cemeteries and recorded the names on the existing gravestones. My first visit to AR I found a great aunt and uncle listed in one of the publications done by the volunteers. I returned a few years later and could not find the graves. I eventually returned to the library, located the book and photocopied the page. When I returned to the cemetery with the page from the book and using the names on the gravestones in the area I was able to locate two stones lying on the ground and although I could not find the names. I believe these are the stones belonging to the graves of my great-aunt and her husband. I met one of their descendants and he planned to investigate to verify these are the correct graves and order a Civil War marker for his g-grandfather and purchase one for his wife. Many of the early graves were marked by a large rock. Many of those have been displaced by vandals, annimals, and weather. I suggest you might check with the genealogical organizations in the area to determine if the graves are listed in some of the early editions of the cemetery books. I am finding more and more information on line. It is probably a remote chance that you would find land records or a record of an estate that will provide the information you need, however I would try. We owe the dedicated members of the local societies a big THANK YOU for all the work they do to locate and publish records to make them more accessible to those of us living long distances from the areas where our ancestors lived and died. 3. I am looking for possible sale of land that belonged to my ggrandfather. He purchased in 1903-1905 (hard to read) a tract of land (40 acres) from Harrison land offison in Harrison ark. according to census record for 1910 he lived " Kentucky/newton county ark.) However I can not seem to find him after he purchased the land. I have the description of land but have no idea where it is. I am not sure what twp.ranges etc mean when reading them I know twp stands for township but I mean the numbers. anyway his name was William L. (W.L. ) tOWNSLEY b. 1848 Ga. would like to know where he went after purchasing land. His wife is in 1910 census for Oklahoma as a "widow" but Arkansas and oklahoma both say they have no death record. We do not have a death date or actual place on him. If I could locate when land was sold perhaps it would tell me approximately when he died. I think it was around 1908-1909 in Oklahoma We found a tombstone (hard to read but a "W" is legible on it ) The stone is next to his wifeabout 5 years before she died in 1916 we suspect this is him as his tiny stilborn daughter is next to him (he is in middle) Dau died Aug 1908 Wife died 1916 but is on 1910 census as widow. perhaps he died in Ark and they move him to oklahoma for buriel. Thanks for help or suggestions cora miller
