Grief's brother, Thomas Box, recorded his parents' names in a church record in the 1870's. Roenna's maiden name was Johnson, she was the daughter of Luke Johnson & Mary Hellums. Grief's father, Michael Box, was born abt 1775-1780 in SC. died 1844 in Tippah, Mississippi. Many databases have my Michael Box's wife as Mary A.Lawrence, married at Lowndes County, Mississippi on 25 May 1837. All of my Michael Box's children were born prior to the above marriage of Michael Box to Mary Lawrence in 1837: James F born 1798, William born 1801, Thomas born 1804, Mary born 1806, John born 1810, & Grief born 1819 So the above Mary Lawrence could NOT be my Michael's wife and mother of his children. Son, Thomas Box, in official church documents recorded in 1876, gave his parents names as the following: Father: MICHAEL BOX born 1780 South Carolina, died 30 Jan 1844 Tippah, MS Mother: MARY FULCHER born 1779 South Carolina, died Feb 1844 Tippah, MS Grandfather: CASON FULCHER Grandfather: JAMES BOX Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
