In loving memory of my grandmother who sparked the interest of genealogy and passed her interests to me and her treasured genealogy collection. Nina Mildred Blann Avant departed this life on Saturday, February 3, 2001 at the age of 81. She survived her husband Henry Jerrell Avant who died on September 11, 1989. (The son of Leonard Duncan Avant and Zoie Vera Harris.) Nina Mildred Blann was born September 27, 1919 in Calhoun County, Arkansas, the first daughter and third child of John Henry Blann (1893-1974) and Mollie Alma Porter (1900-1975). She married Henry Jerrell Avant on June 5, 1937 in Calhoun County, Arkansas. She is survived by her 6 children: Doris Jean Avant Courville; Jimmy Ray Avant; Patricia Gail Avant Kyle; Jo Ann Avant Byrd and Ronald "Ricky" Jerrell Avant all of Camden, Arkansas and Dickie Lee Avant of Olive Branch, Mississippi. She is survived by her sister, Alma Deloyce "Jackie" Blann Avant; a brother James Carroll "Buddy" Blann; sisers, Shirley Ann Blann Dewar and Relda Jane Blann Sellers and another brother, Roy Dean Blann. She leaves behind 12 adoring grandchildren and greived the loss of her granddauaghter Kimberly Michelle Avant (1972-1994). She is survived by 17 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held at Happy Home Assembly of God Church, Hampton, Arkansas with burial in Pickett Cemetery, Calhoun County, Arkansas. Proctor Funeral Home is in charage of the arrangements.
