    3. Bill, I very much appreciate your posting this information online. I have one that I would like to elaborate on a little. For those researchers looking for information on John Hopper. The one listed here is John Samuel Hopper and I've had a time finding him because of incorrect spellings. In fact, his memorial in Chicago has John S. Harper. The archives had him listed under Hooper for many years was why we had difficulty finding him. Additional information that I have on him: Pvt. Co. I, 3rd Reg't, Arkansas Infantry. After capture at Chickamauga he was sent to military prison in Louisville, Ky and on Oct. 2, 1863 he was transferred to Camp Douglas, Illinois, where he became ill (tuberculosis) and died Dec. 20, 1863.
