Smith b. 1831 in TN. I first find him in Locust Bayou in 1850 in the home of George Swetman as a laborer. He marries Sarah Warren October 5, 1853 and they raise children there on what is still known as "The ole Smith Farm" in Locust Bayou. Sometime after 1880 and 1900 they move to Choctaw Nation, OK as they are on the 1900 census there. I would like to know if anyone has a county tax records for the years between 1880 and 1900 to see when he last paid taxes in that area. Also would like to know when he sold the lands he owned in that area. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I remember Paxton, I think he was the only one I ever met. i was very young. I am very interested in the Jordan family. I believe that I have traced the family back to the famous Samuel Jordan that came across the pond in early 1600's. He was a character, much like all of the other Jordan's that I know. I am the son of David Jordan the 5th of Floyd Carl's children with Versa. Please email me with the Jordan information. I just started looking around a week or so ago. Tell me who you know from my side of the Jordan family and I will be glad to answer any questions that I know. My grandmother was Mary Maud jordan who married Robert Walter Jones. I have that Floyd married Willie Green and had children Paxton, Vonciel, and Pauline. I knew Paxton fairly well. He lived in Magnolia and seems like everytime we went to town we would meet up with him on the square. He sold insurance and had an office there I believe. He is the only one from that family that I knew. I believe Willie Green remarried a Foster. I have quiet a bit of information on the Jordan family if you are interested. Thanks again. So much of the church's history has been lost and the ones who remember are passing on. We are hoping to get alot of information from the Homecoming to help keep the history alive. Especially since most of the family history is tied to the church and cemetary. My great-grandmother was Mary Dovie Calaway Dunn Jones. Her grandfather was the Martin Pinkney Calaway that founded the church in 1880. He served as pastor until 1885 when L O Myers became pastor. Hope to see you at the Homecoming. Looking mainly for when the church was moved from original location to present location. About what year did that church burn and when the current was built. Also looking for names of past pastors and dates they served. Any help is appreciated. The Homecoming is scheduled for July 25, 2009. All is invited.
