    1. [ARCALHOU] From List Mom - Please Read - Regarding Living Persons
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members: I just want to take a moment to remind you that you should never give information on living persons in your messages without their permission or the permission of their parents if they are children. The most important reason for this is the right to privacy. You also need to remember that anything you post goes into the archives of that list and stays there. It cannot be removed but it can be copied and added to any ones site out there in the world of the internet. This may not seem real important, but I promise it will become so when you are surfing the web one day and come across a site with your children's names, grandchildren's names, where they live and how old they are. I continue to thank you for your support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [ARCALHOU] FROM LIST MOM - First Quarter Report - 2001
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, here it is, time for the First Quarterly Report for 2001. Can you believe how fast the time has passed? Please take note of my new e-mail address, [email protected] and change your address books, the old efortress.com account will be closed by the end of the month. The ARCALHOU Mailing List has 54 members, 44 on the Regular list and there are 10 members on the Digest List. If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/. Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller's Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. Just a reminder so this list is better for each of us the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at [email protected] There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as the first message from a members says Says "Happy Birthday John" and then John says "Thank you" and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday John". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. [email protected] I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and yourwillingness to help make this list the success it is. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [ARCALHOU] JULIUS ADAMS m. Margaret Ann DEARMAN
    2. E H Biber
    3. After many months of searching, I finally have some info to pursue on my grandmother's family. Bradley Co., Ark. marriage record for JULIUS ADAMS (age 24) and MAGGIE DEARMAN (age 18) married January 26, 1887. Her name appears to have been MARGARET ANN DEARMAN. By 1900 she was a widow living in Calhoun Co. Shortly thereafter she married Alfred Tom SPRY and was living in Tinsman as of the 1910 census. She died in 1912. Her tombstone reads "Annie Spry 12 Nov 1868, 5 Aug 1912". 1868 agrees with her age on the marriage record, but the 1900 & 1910 census records list her as 4 years and 2 years younger. 1900 Census, Calhoun Co, Jefferson Twp, Ar 309/311 - Margaret Adams (Nov 1872) widow - AR AL Al Theresa (Nov 1887) Mary J. (Nov 1888) Uretha (Wreatha) (Mar 1894) Ida B. (Mar 1897) (Note: Ida B. is IDA BELL ADAMS (Spry step-child), who married Thomas Alexander THOMASON, son of Wm Lafayette Thomason and Elizabeth Jane EARNEST) 1910 Census, Calhoun Co, Town of Tinsman, Ar 33/35 - Wreatha Adams - 17 yrs - servant lives w/Jacob & Cora McKnight) I believe she is buried in Bradley Co. Any information at all about any of these people, or their relatives would be most appreciated. Thanks, Elaine Thomason Biber

    3. I would just like to thank our list mom for asking for a roll call recently. That prompted me to finally post a message (instead of just lurking) about my ancestors the Stringfellows and Byrds. Then two great people, Dorothy Lewis and Linda Seitz have given me more than I thought I would ever know about the Byrd and Madera lines of my family. I didn't even know there was a Madera line. Well Linda suggested I give an update on my Stringfellow line to Bill McCarty who has a Stringfellow web page which I did. He told a cousin of mine, Steve Stringfellow (our grandparents were brother and sister) whom I have never met about me. Steve emailed me and low and behold we live within 5 miles of each other down her in Florida. Thanks to you all! I guess you could call this an internet family reunion. John Atwood

    3. Dear List Members, I belong to many mailing list besides the ones I am List Mom for. I had a real eye opener this weekend on several of them and it made me appreciate each of you more than you will ever know. I saw members putting each other down, demeaning one another, screaming at each other if one could scream via an e-mail. I saw new members leave because they were made to feel foolish only because they did not know the rules of the list. I feel blessed to be the List Mom of your list and I thank you with all of my heart for the manner in which you handle yourselves on it and for the way you treat each other. Because of each of you I am able to take care of as many lists and I do - and love each and every moment of it. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

Bill, would you please ask Bill McCarty if Jesse Byrd (who married Isabella Clementine Stringfellow) was a brother of Mittie Byrd (who married Isabella's brother, Benjamin Franklin Stringfellow). I show that William Augustus Byrd and Mary Saphronia Lee had children: Mittie Florence, William B. Jessie B., James W., and Letha. Linda

    1. [ARCALHOU] Madera, Parker, Davis, Lambert, Byrd, Cruse, Clements. Saimders
    2. Linda
    3. My primary Calhoun Co. interests are ancestors and descendants of 1) Augustus MADERA b. 1800-1804 VA, and of 2) Arthur PARKER b. abt. 1811 GA whose son Thomas A. PARKER married 1856 Martha DAVIS b. 1840 Pike Co., AL, daughter of William and Elizabeth DAVIS of Pike Co. Re. John Atwood's post, copied below, Augustus Madera's presumed daughter Charlotte married Thomas B. BYRD 1847 Union Co., AR. Thomas B. BYRD is reported to have died 7 Apr 1863, during the Civil War, in a hospital at Atlanta, GA. Three BIRD children, Elizabeth, Augustus, and Richard, were in Augustus Madera's household in the 1870 Calhoun Co. census. James L. BIRD was in T. F. Madera's household in that census. T. A. (or N) BYRD, W. A. BYRD, R. B. BYRD, and T. F. CLEMENTS (husband of Elizabeth BYRD) inherited from Augustus's estate. Augustus Madera sold land in Calhoun Co. Nov. 1, 1873 to W. A. BYRD and carried notes for $1,000 without interest. I believe this to be the Augustus BIRD of the 1870 census and the William Augustus BYRD of John Atwood's post. Susan MADERA married Johnston (Johnson?) M. CRUSE 1854 in Union Co. Sarah MADERA married George B. SAUNDERS 1860 in Calhoun Co. Both are suspected to be daughters of Augustus Madera. Augustus Madera's son Thomas F. MADERA married 1867 Prucilla LAMBERT, daughter of Elbert and Susan Elizabeth A. LAMBERT, and married 1878 Levonia L. "Betty" PARKER, daughter of Thomas and Martha DAVIS PARKER. Another son James R. MADERA did not marry. Still another son, William MADERA, has not been identified after the 1850 Union Co. census. Arthur and Martha DAVIS PARKER's descendants connect in Calhoun and Bradley Co. with many other surnames. I would enjoy hearing from all connections.
