    1. [ARCALHOU] Pleasant Bennett
    2. Millers
    3. Hi, I am a new subscriber, and am searching for any info on Pleasant BENNETT/Theodocia SIMPSON as well as their descendants..here's what's been sent to me: 2. Pleasant Bennett: Born March 14, 1809 in GA - July 23, 1862 in Calhoun Co., AR. He married Theodocia "Docia" Ann Simpson on Dec. 22, 1829 Jackson Co., AL. They are listed on the 1840 Jackson County, AL Census, as well as the following 1850 Arkansas Census. 1850 Ouachita Co., AR Census in Freeo Township: Bennett, Pleasant Farmer 41 M GA _____ _____ Docia 36 F VA _____ _____ Francis 18 F AL GA VA Sennia 15 F AL GA VA Thomas 13 F AL GA VA Margaret 11 F AL GA VA Mary E. 7 F AL GA VA Nancy P. 5 F AR GA VA Henry 2 M AR GA VA By 1860, they were located in Calhoun Co., AR. By 1870, they are listed in the 1870 Franklin County, AR Census in the Mulberry Township. I am interested in this line because I believe that Pleasant's brother was WELCOME K. BENNETT, who was my ggggrandfather (Welcome settled in Oregon County, MO by 1860). Am looking for confirmation and documentation that the above Pleasant was in fact, Welcome's brother. I have much on the Bennett line that I am willing to exchange, including documentation. Thanks for any help! Lanita Sconce Miller Wichita, KS

    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, This site was shared with me today and I am thrilled with it. If you have or might have ancestors who were from Virginia, you need to check this one out. Plan on spending some time. There is a lot of information. http://www.lva.lib.va.us/dlp/index.htm "The Library of Virginia's Digital Library Program (DLP) is an internationally recognized effort to preserve, digitize, and provide access to significant archival and library collections. The DLP transfers rare and unique Virginia materials into an integrated, user-friendly electronic research environment. 3. Dear List Members, if messages are being posted to the list by a member that does not deal with the subject of the list, PLEASE let it pass. I am taking care of it behind the scene. You do not need to correct the member who posted the incorrect message nor do you need to send to the entire list your unhappiness. I will take care of it for you, quietly and personally with the member who posted the message. Also, I am getting a lot of personal messages asking me to help you unsubscribe as you leave on vacations, etc. I will always be glad to help you unsubscribe if you have a problem or even if you have forgotten how, but just as a reminder if you go to Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ and type in your e-mail address and ask for a list of all Rootsweb lists you belong to, you will, within a few moments receive it via e-mail. You can unsubscribe from any or all of the rootsweb lists you are on from it. I thank you for your continued support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. Dear List Members, Many of you may already know about the "Historical Maps of the United States" site located at http://www.lib.utexas.edu/Libs/PCL/Map_collection/histus.html But I just found it and it is wonderful. I have spent the last few hours going through some of the maps and it helped me so much to understand some of the strange migration patterns of my ancestors. Enjoy, and have a wonderful weekend. 1. [ARCALHOU] From List Mom Regarding Memorial Day Postings
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, Remember as you think about posting a message to the list regarding Memorial Day, that some of our members are not from the United States. We have members from England, Canada, Mexico, Scotland, Ireland and Australia, just to name a few. Please keep this in mind as you send your messages regarding honoring those of our ancestors who fought in wars, served in the military and gave their lives for our beliefs and for the freedoms we hold dear. Our members from other countries also have ancestors who fought, and gave their lives for the beliefs and for the freedoms of their country. We in the genealogical community need to continue to remember that we are a world wide family which is formed from those of many nations, cultures, beliefs and history. This Country was built by those who migrated here from lands around the world. Their history is a part of us as our history is a part of them. I ask you to remember all those who have given their lives in military service world wide this weekend and please show the respect due to each of our members, no matter where they are from or what country they or their ancestors fought for. I appreciate each of you. Have a save weekend. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. It seems as if the latest virus problem has calmed down, but it would only take one or two of you opening an attachment with a virus to set it off again. It is not over, but it has calmed down. Just this morning I received another on - and did as I suggest you do DELETED IT. Please remember: DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENT unless you know 100% what it is and who is from and have run a virus scan on it. I don't care how inviting the subject line is, "homepage", "Read this", "The Docs you ask for", etc. . Also please remember that this virus is not being spread via Rootsweb, but is being spread via attachments that are being sent out by rootsweb members. If you want additional information on what a virus is go to http://ca.com/virusinfo/faq.htm it is an informative site. If you don't have a good Virus Scan, I use Norton Anti virus, you need to get one that you trust and fast. If you are not sure what kind to get, you might want to join the virus discussion list to get additional information on the different programs. [email protected] Again, I appreciate your support as we have gone through the last month or so fighting this problem. I also appreciated your willingness to do all that is necessary to help me fight the problem. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. Hello Kin, I have been tooling around in the NARA pages for my reputed Cherokees. I live about 4 miles from the Ft. Worth Fed. Archives, and will do a reasonable amount of research there for any of you who do not have good access to census records, and a variety of other records there. They have most of the printed census indexes through 1850, some 1870 on CD's and of course the soundex, etc. for 1880-1920, along with the related microfilmed census. Hope you may need a nudge I can help with.
