Add 20 yrs to everyone's 1880 age for the 1900 census. I'm not related to any member of this family. Chances are that Phoebe Wimberly is/was a slave. The CW did not start until 1862/1863. She will be recorded as - either black, negro or mulatto. The term "AA" was not invented until the 1990's. Need DOB's birthplaces for all children Facts you should know about the early census records - All census records [1790 - 1840] prior to the 1850 census ONLY listed the head of household; whether male or female. NO specific age was stated for any family member NO place of birth was stated - city, state, or country NO city, town, or village is stated - only the county; however some census takers listed the township NO street address was stated NO marital status was stated - single, married, widowed, or divorced NO family relationship was stated - brother, sister, cousin, son, daughter, wife, inlaw, etc. NO occupation was stated NO parental birthplaces are stated NO race was stated [but assume "white"] 1850, 1860 & 1870 census records do not show family relationships, marital status or parental birthplaces. Step children are not enumerated as "step" children Adopted children are not enumerated as "adopted" Grand children are not enumerated as "grand children" Orphaned children were not enumerated as "orphan" Immigration date is not recorded 1850 is the 1st census that shows all family members with their birthplaces 1880 is the 1st census that shows parental birthplaces and family relationships 1880 - Name: Pleasant Neblett Age: 55 Birth Year: abt 1825 Birthplace: Tennessee Home in 1880: District 5, Montgomery, Tennessee Race: Black Gender: Male Relation to Head of House: Self (Head) Spouse's Name: Phesaby Neblett Father's Birthplace: Tennessee Mother's Birthplace: Tennessee Pleasant Neblett 55, TN - no occ. She was born approx 1846 and married Pleasant Neblett (born about 1820) in Montgomery County Tennessee. They had 7 children. Do you have anyone in your tree that goes by the name of Phoebe, Pherasby, or similar? They are also African American. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My name is Gary Evans (I share this site with William Gabello). Several distant cousins and I have recently completed Y-DNA testing at Family Tree DNA. We discovered that we have an exact 37 marker match with Mr. Arthur Foy Evans Jr. who is a direct descendent of Yearly David Evans. This means that we are very closely related. We are working to understand our Evans family line and hope that we can come to understand where the connection with Yearly David occurred. My Great Great Grandfather was Henry Evans, b. 1798 in GA. or VA. and d. 1865 in Prairie Co., AR. We've found that Henry's father was a Benjamin Evans, who with his brothers, Nathan, Hezekiah, Obidiah and David all moved from Ga to Alabama. Henry then moved to Mississippi and finally to Arkansas about 1852. If you are interested in following this line please let me know. We'd love to develop this picture more carefully. If you have any information that you could share we'd love that. My personal e-mail is - snaveyrag@prodigy.net I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance. Dorothy If you are a part of the Brumley desecendency, I would really like to stay in touch with you. I am also. through a cousin of Larkin's. e-mail tomgenia@frontier.com . Genia Edmonds ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dorothy Lewis" <dotlewis@sbcglobal.net> To: <arcalhou@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 11, 2012 1:17 AM Subject: [ARCALHOU] Brumley/Hanna To all of you who tried to help, Thank you! After years of looking, I finally found the marriage record of Earlie Mae HANNA to Larkin Brumley, 27 June 1930, in Bradley County, AR. Her name wasn't spelled correctly, thus the problem in finding it. She died in childbirth, probally abt 1932-1932. I've not yet found an obit or her burial site. Larkin remarried to Letha Aycock on 22 June 1933 in Bradley County, AR According to the census records, he did not have a child of the right age to have been Earlie Mae's, so assume the baby did not survive either. Can any of you tell me where she's buried? I would really like to have an obit if possible, or at least know where she's buried. Dorothy
