My ggrandmother was Caroline Spears Powell. I have always thought there was a connection to the Laniers in some way. She died in 1889 and I don't know much about her. I know she had a brother Thomas J. Spears (b. 1861) and in 1900 he and his family lived next door to Horace and Callie Lanier. Do you know who they were?
