Here is her obituary: Mrs. Mary Catherine Owens Creed, 91, died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Veazey in Warren. She was born in Bradley County November 9, 1856. She was a member of the Methodist church. Besides the daughter, there survives one son, W. W. Owens, Warren and two step children, Mrs. Liza Delleger of Warren, and John Creed, Rison and several grandchildren. Services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Hal H. Pinnell, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial was made at Hickory Springs Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Roy Creed, Elmer Owens, Jack Temple, Ray Temple, Lester Creed, Jim Creed, Alvin Creed and Vance Waites. Honorary bearers were L. S. Willis, W. D. Roddey, Sr., J. P. Scobey, Ben Beasley, W. A. Baker, Ernie Baker, Henry Temple, Will Hargis and Claude Greenwood. Eagle Democrat 1948 Jann Mary Creed was my great grandmother, she had been married to one of the Hargis brothers as my great aunt was married to one of the Hargis brothers. I have that information at home on her maiden name which just off the top of my head I think was Adams and I am sure that was her maiden name. My grandfather was W.W. Owens and was her son, now that I started typing his father was Wade Owens and was killed when my grandfather was very young. My Aunt Nannie Veasy was her daughter and the sister of my grandfather. She lived with them in Warren until her death. I will send a note later in the week when I get back home from the notes I have. But she was married to a Hargis and so was her brother.
