Melissa, Here is another resource that person can try. http://history-sites.com/mb/cw/arcwmb/ Bryan Howerton that you'll also see linked to the Ed Gerdes civil war homepage has done alot of research on Arkansas civil war regiments. He can often name the people that go by initials on the civil war soldiers and sailors (but not always). I'll leave it to you if the site should be posted to the rootweb board as it is a civil war site not a site for general genealogical discussions (except as pertains to the civil war). It is fascinating reading though and there was a discussion within the last 4 months on some records at the national archives in DC that talked about a Union commander's records that recorded the names and *families* of all the slaves they freed on the way through Arkansas. Well I messed up and posted it to the board anyway by accident. Oh well. Rhonda, thanks for sharing this resource. I hadn't seen it before. I think it's great when people share sites that are useful for research. And even though it is specific to Civil War research, I'll go out on a limb and say most, if not all, the folks on the list have at least one Civil War ancestor, if not several. Thanks for sharing! Anyone have other research sites they would like to share? --Melissa Quoting Rhonda <rstarthistle@gmail.com>: > Melissa, > Here is another resource that person can try. > http://history-sites.com/mb/cw/arcwmb/ Bryan Howerton that you'll also see > linked to the Ed Gerdes civil war homepage has done alot of research on > Arkansas civil war regiments. Yeah it is fascinating to read also. They were just posting info recently about regiments with the same number designations and who was in command and where (and when) they all were in order to straighten them all out!
