    3. For some reason I am thinking this particular Hickman is elusive for some researchers, so thought I'd post his obit. Former resident dies in accident Kavanaugh E. Hickman, 51, of Highland, Ind., formerly of Bradley County, was killed Friday when a four to five ton air conditioning blower he was unloading from a fork lift truck slipped and fell on him, crushing him to death. Hickman was born and reared near Hermitage and was a graduate of Hermitage High School. He had resided at Hot Springs for several years before moving to Highland. Mr. Hickman was a member of the Sheet Metal Union 303 of Hammond, Ind.; the American Legion Post and the Presbyterian Church. His survivors include his widow, Mrs. Leona Hickman; a son, Roger, and a daughter, Barbara Jane, both at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alec HIckman of Hermitage; five sisters, Mrs. Veree Keller of Hot Springs, Mrs. Marnette Atkinson of Warren, Mrs. Marge Hargis of Marshall, Mrs. Vergie Loveless of Wilmar, Mrs. Vastel Russell of Canden, and Mrs. Evaleen Forrest of Hermitage. Services were Monday by Rev. Herman McCoy. Interment was at Schererville, Indiana. Aug 10, 1961 --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.

    2. Jann, thank you so much for posting this. I had never seen this announcement before. I had always heard that Uncle K. died in an accident but didn't know the details. Maybe now I can find his resting place. Thanks again for posting! --Melissa Quoting bjw <jann_woodard@yahoo.com>: > For some reason I am thinking this particular Hickman is elusive for > some researchers, so thought I'd post his obit. > > Former resident dies in accident > > Kavanaugh E. 3. I calculated his death date as Friday, Aug 4, 1961, if this obit was published one week later. However, the SSDI shows his death as Jul 1961. So it could have been the last Friday in July the 28th 1961. His birth is listed as 10 Mar 1910. Schererville is in Lake County, Indiana. I find only 3 cemeteries in Schererville all in St. John Township: 1. Chapel Lawn Cemetery Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN 46307 2.
