Several folks wanted me to post this to the list so that's what I'm doing. I'll send the remainder tomorrow. W. L. Wooten of Hermitage of Hermitage, 52, died Sunday afternoon in a Crossett hospital where he underwent an appendectomy Wednesday. Engaged in the timber business for many years, at the time of his death, Mr. Wooten was employed by Charlie Murphy of El Dorado as overseer of timberlands in this county. He is survived by his wife, and three brothers, two of whom live in Mississippi, the other in Tennessee. The body was taken Monday to Columbus, Mississippi for burial. Eagle Dem. Mar 9, 1939 L. D. York, a well-known resident of Warren and Bradley County, died Thursday December 18. He was 63 and lived in Warren, though he spent much of his life in the lower end of the county. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie York; two sons, Major Hansel York of Seattle, Washington, and Captain L. Dennis York, Japan; one daughter, Mrs. W. A. Togue of Plainfield, Indiana; one brother, J. D. York of Vick; four sisters, Mrs. Joe Vickers of Ingalls, Mrs. George Wolfe of Pine Bluff, Mrs. E. M. Thomas of Pine Bluff, and Mrs. Henry Hargis of Warren; and four grandchildren. Eagle Dem. 1953 Vernon Lee Johnson, aged 40, of Wewoka, Oklahoma, was killed in an auto accident on January 14. He was born in Bradley County on February 6, 1903. Funeral services were conducted at Hickory Springs at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Rolla Nixon. Surviving are his wife, Rosa Johnson; father, J. J. Johnson of Hermitage; three brothers, Walter, Jimmy and Jack; and one sister, Rossie Jarrett. Eagle Dem Jan 18, 1945 Joy Faith Brumley, aged 6, died Monday January 3, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larkin Brumley of Banks. Surviving are her parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Stanley Larkin Brumley; one sister, J. Elizabeth Brumley; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Brumley of Banks, Mr. and Mrs. B. Aycock. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Banks Cemetery. Eagle Dem. Jan 6, 1944 V. E. Brumley, aged 59, died at his home in Harrell Thursday September 28. He was born December 10, 1884. Funeral services were held at Camp Grounds at 2:30 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Tisdale. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nettie Brumley; one son, Charles L. of United States Army; four brothers, C. F. and Frank of Harrell; Ray of Truman and Larkin of New York; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Jinks of El Dorado, Mrs. Anna Smith of Smackover and Mrs. Mary Culligan of Pine Bluff --------------------------------- Be a better pen pal.
