Wow! It's great to see the list getting active again! For those who don't know me, my name is Dena Calbert (calvert) Jordan, and the family I'm researching in Bradley County have the Surnames: Green, Childs, Davis, Moman, Falls, Calbert (Calvert), Harmon, Boswell, Phillips and Belin. Its been so long since I have typed the word 'genealogy,' I almost forgot how, but, I'm glad to see the list starting up again. My main field of research is African American. The first mention of my family is on a Freedman's Labor Contract list of 1866, field office, Monticello, Drew County., Entry 393-Labor Contracts: Employer Contacts Employees Age Term of Contract W.H. Green Nannie 63 Rations/Clothing Estes 15 $3.00/Rations/Clothing and infant Mike 10 Rations/Clothing Puss/Victor 8 Rations/Clothing Perry 23 1/10 of crop raised on farm of employer except potatoes/2 suits of clothes (Info found by the GG Granddaughter of Mike Green, Michelle Hood). This family came from S. Carolina. I'm not sure if they came with their owners or came with slave traders to be sold, but whatever the case, they were a family in 1866 and in 1870. W.H. Green has never been identified, he is not on the 1860 nor the 1870 Census of Bradley County, Arkansas. Estes (Easter) Green is my GG Grandmother. Her children were James (most likely the infant on the 1866 Labors Contract, as he is 5 years in 1870), Peter, William, Laura, John (my G. Grandfather, married Georgia Crosby), Ed, Watt and Sallie. >From census records, Victoria (see labor contract record) is the first one born in Arkansas, the rest in S. Carolina. Any family out there, please don't hesitate to get in contact with me. Thanks! Dena **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products.
