Hi, I was telling Anne, that my G. Mother, Susie Green-Calbert was a master sopper (lol)!! A work of ART!! She use to sop biscuits and syrup, biscuits and fig preserves, corn bread and greens and beans, white bread (which she called 'lite bread') and gravy. Seemed to make the food taste better, and she made it look good while eating it too! I don't know how long soppin be around, but I believe blacks who came to America had it with them when they came.
