I suppose the 1870 census will always be a mystery. I even looked at the indigent listing and the families I am looking for [some who fought in the CW] were not included and that list was done in 1862-63. We discussed this particular census today at the Saline Co. Library and apparently it was a big problem in all southern states. I am always on the look out for obituaries prior to 1930 and have found lots of obits for Bradley Co. in different newspapers, and today I found another source. Do any of you know of any "Landmark Baptist Churches" in the early 1900s? I found reference to two obituaries for what appears to be located around Ingalls and Gravelridge. I will have to go to the History Com to get the actual obits, but thought these two might connect with someone on the list: Mrs. M. P. A. Clements born Sep 15, 1845 and died Oct 28 1907 at Ingalls. The other one is Mattie C. Black or Mrs. J. T. Black of Hermitage. She died Dec 8, 1907. Apparently there was a Lankmark Baptist paper of some kind, sort of like the Arkansas Methodist and Baptist Newspapers. There still is a Landmark Church across the road from the Gravel Ridge Church and Cemetery. My Grandmother went to church there. I would like to know if there is any mention of Hettie Gorman Vines.
