Peyton and family. In fact, our 2004 book, The Peytons of Virginia II only lists their four children listed in the 1850 Census of Ogelthorpe, GA. I note from the 1860 that Henry's wife (Elmira/Elmina) is absent. I presume she had died by then. Do you have the date and place of her death? Also, was the 7-year-old Elizabeth in the 1850 Census the same person as 16-year-old Jane in the 1860 Census? The 1850 Census shows the birthplace of Elmina (Elmira) as GA; I presume you have documentation that she was born in SC. Our book does list seven generations of ancestors of Henry D. back to Thomas Peyton Sr. of Bisley, Gloucester, England who was baptized 11 June 1580, Horsley Parish, Gloucester.
