    3. Regarding the mention of someone having a signed book "Call Me Madam" by Maxine Temple. There are currently 5 used copies available on Amazon....though the price starts at $100.00. There might be additional copies available through other sources. It would be interesting, if someone typed up an index of the Arkansas names, & maybe a couple of the particularly interesting anecdotes mentioned in the book, and sent them to this list. Evidently the book was published in 1983...and recounts Maxine, aka "The Brothel Queen" ' s "career of hosting high roller from 1945 - 1962 in Hot Springs. (Hearing the mention of the book on this email list, I originally thought it concerned life in the late 1800's, or early 20th century. I do see from the mini-biography (see below) that the story of this brothel did start earlier. Built CIRCA 1895 as the Crystal Saloon, Maxine's has had a colorful history.  In the early 1900’s, the second floor held the Hot Springs Business Men's Social Club, alias Maxine's bordello. There is a nice nutshell biography of this person, and also a contemporary photo of what the ex-brothel has become...some type of coffee house.. at: http://www.hsnp.com/zz-maxine.htm Couldn't come across any old photo on the web (using google images search) of this infamous woman.
