I've pulled out everything I have on the Johns family and Maurice is not listed. Those two half-brothers of James A. Johns, may be Maurice's line. Maybe someone else will know. Here's another obit, but I didn't date it - drats! George Johns, 62 year old farmer of the Cross River Harmony community, was found dead a quarter mile from his home Saturday morning. Death had come as a result from a blast from a 12-guage shotgun found near the body. Born in Bradley County on Dec. 28, 1893, Mr. Johns had lived in this vicinity all his life. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lettie Mae Johns; two sons, Troy and Lester Johns; two brothers, Joe and John Johns; two half brothers, Jim Johnson and Bob Richardson; two sisters, Mrs. J. D. Stewart and Mrs. Hattie Mae Johnson; and a half sister, Mrs. Ruth Owens. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mr. Johns were conducted at Union Church in Cleveland County on Sunday afternoon by Rev. J. E. White. Burial was in Union Cemetery by Frazer Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Clyde Taylor, Herbert Bradley, Thomas Bradley, Buster Russell, Virgil Rhodes, and Jesse Harrelson. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Nichols, Albert Nichols, James Bradley, Curtis Adair, Mack Wallace and H.
