    3. J. E. "Luke" Parnell, aged 82, former resident of Warren and a native of Bradley Couunty, died at his home in Atkins on Thursday Oct. 25, 1956, following several years of failing health. He was a Baptist and a member of the Woodmen of the World. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Leona Standridge Parnell of Atkins; a son, G. O. Parnell of Tyler, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. R. E. Luttrell of Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Mrs. T. B. Beard and one brother, W. T. Parnell, both of Warren; one granddaughter, Mrs. Raymond Hennig and one step grandson, Charles Ray Packnett of Tyler; three stepsons, Thomas Pearson of Little Rock, Willard and Vernon Bruce, both of Atkins and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Parnell were conducted at Frazer’s Chapel at 2 p.m. last Saturday by Rev. L. B. Moseley of New Edinburg. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Warren by Frazer Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jim Parrott, Louis Williams, John Parrott, Walter Moseley, Herbert M. O’Neal and Carl Beard. [my interest in Luke Parnell is the fact he was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church at one time.] Jann Michael Thompson <nextwave2004@sbcglobal.net> wrote: Jann, James Elzie 'Luke" Parnell m. If Travis Bond Beard married Ollie Parnell (he did), then that would make Luke and Ollie Parnell brother and sister. Ollie one of 7 children I have listed for Joseph Marion Parnell and Sarah Jane Bryant according to my original family group sheets. Yet I don't have Luke listed - but Luke (1874) would fit between Mattie (1872) and Della (1878). I also, don't have his 2nd wife. Please help with corrections or additions.
