    1. [ARBRADLE] Hasten/Hastin/Hastings Jones of Bradley County, Arkansas
    2. Coyal Gorman
    3. I found a little info on Hasten / Hastin / Hastings Jones, who moved to Bradley County in about 1847-1849. He is said to have had many slaves and a large farm in Clay Township, Bradley County. He lived in Bradley County for about 12 years, then about 1860 moved on to Texas. His first name has been found spelled as the above. We will use the name Hasten Jones, as it is found in the 1860 Slave Census of Bradley County, taken on August 11, 1860. At the time of the 1860 Slave Census, Hasten Jones was living in Clay Township of Bradley County. He is noted as having 17 slaves. Hasten Jones was born May 25, 1815 in Dallas County, Alabama and died on August 24, 1878 in Reagan, Falls County, Texas. Hasten Jones is believed to have been the son of Matthew Jones of North Carolina. Hasten Jones married Martha Goodman on December 29, 1839 in Dallas County, Alabama. Martha Goodman Jones was born February 25, 1825, died February 3, 1850 in Warren, Bradley County, Arkansas. I have not been able to located what cemetery she is buried in. Children of Hasten and Martha G. Jones are: Margaret Ann Jones, born August 17, 1841 in Alabama Wesley S. Jones, born January 28, 1847 in Mississippi Joanna Frances Jones, born May 29, 1849 in Arkansas, died November 6, 1849, in Arkansas. I have not found the cemetery where Joanna F. Jones is buried. The 1850 Census of Clay Township, Bradley County has only Hasten Jones and his 3 children listed. Hasten Jones is listed as age 35, born in Alabama, farmer, value of real estate $700., daughter Margaret A., age 9, born in Alabama; Wesley S., age 6, born in Mississippi, James M., age 3 born in Arkansas. No listing for daughter Joanna as she had died. This census was recorded on October 19, 1850. On October 20, 1850, Bradley County, Arkansas, Hasten Jones married Mary Ann Hanna. Mary Ann Hanna is the daughter of Alexander Hanna and Rosanna Hanna, living at the time of the 1850 Census in Warren Township, Bradley County, Arkansas. Mary Ann's age is listed as 26 and being born in Tennessee. Mary Ann Hanna Jones birth is noted as January 22, 1825 in Tennessee. Other family info has her birth in Carroll County, Georgia. Between their marriage in 1850 to 1860, it is noted that six children were born, all in Bradley County, Arkansas. First was: Mary Rosanna "Babe" Jones, born August 8, 1851, married to William B. DeWalt. next was: Alexander L. "Zan" Jones, born March 11, 1853, married Elizabeth "Eliza" Cornelison. next was: William Mortimer "Mort" Jones, born August 3, 1854 next was: Sarah Jane Jones, born December 1, 1855, died on December 29, 1855, in Bradley County, Arkansas. next was: Alonzo Pennington "Lon" Jones, born December 3, 1856, married Mary Lydia "Mamie" Cornelison. next was: Ann Eliza "Annie" Jones, born December 26, 1858, married Samuel Fletcher Barclay. It is said that about 1860, Hasten Jones moved his family to Polk County, Texas where he purchased 320 acres of land. About 1870 he moved again to Reagan Community, Falls County, Texas. Quote from a grandson Hastings L. Jones, "Hasten Jones migrated from Arkansas in 1860 to Polk County, Texas, he had a wagon train, cattle, horses and other stock. A large number of slaves..also were moved". Hasten Jones and his wife, Mary Ann Hanna Jones are buried in the Blue Ridge Cemetery in Falls County, Texas. Hasten Jones and children were one of the many families that moved from the Dallas County, Alabama area in about 1847 to 1849 to Bradley County, Arkansas. Coyal Maxey Gorman Minden, Louisiana

    2. Just wondering if you came to the reunion this summer in Little Rock Tonia Belin-Walter -----Original Message----- From: DENAPITTSBURG@aol.com To: arbradle@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, 23 Nov 2007 2:34 pm Subject: [ARBRADLE] Active Genealogy List-Researching the Green Family of Bradley County, Arkansas Wow! It's great to see the list getting active again! For those who don't know me, my name is Dena Calbert (calvert) Jordan, and the family I'm researching in Bradley County have the Surnames: Green, Childs, Davis, Moman, Falls, Calbert (Calvert), Harmon, Boswell, Phillips and Belin. Its been so long since I have typed the word 'genealogy,' I almost forgot how, but, I'm glad to see the list starting up again. My main field of research is African American. The first mention of my family is on a Freedman's Labor Contract list of 1866, field office, Monticello, Drew County., Entry 393-Labor Contracts: Employer Contacts Employees Age Term of Contract W.H. Green Nannie 63 Rations/Clothing Estes 15 $3.00/Rations/Clothing and infant Mike 10 Rations/Clothing Puss/Victor 8 Rations/Clothing Perry 23 1/10 of crop raised on farm of employer except potatoes/2 suits of clothes (Info found by the GG Granddaughter of Mike Green, Michelle Hood). This family came from S. Carolina. I'm not sure if they came with their owners or came with slave traders to be sold, but whatever the case, they were a family in 1866 and in 1870. W.H. Green has never been identified, he is not on the 1860 nor the 1870 Census of Bradley County, Arkansas. Estes (Easter) Green is my GG Grandmother. Her children were James (most likely the infant on the 1866 Labors Contract, as he is 5 years in 1870), Peter, William, Laura, John (my G. Grandfather, married Georgia Crosby), Ed, Watt and Sallie. >From census records, Victoria (see labor contract record) is the first one born in Arkansas, the rest in S. Carolina. Any family out there, please don't hesitate to get in contact with me. Thanks! Dena **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products. 1. [ARBRADLE] New Gravestone Project
    2. Tootie Dennis
    3. Greetings Arkansas Researchers, I wouldlike to invite you to check out the Arkansas Gravestone Photo Project and participate in its growth as it will only grow with everyone's involvement. The Arkansasgravestones.org is a wonderful tool to preserve the headstones of your ancestors. With the advent of time and weather and vandalism, our headstones are disappearing at an alarming rate. We need to work on preserving a digital image of our family stones as a fitting tribute to our ancestors. This site is an easy-to-use site that exists to make this preservation possible. Additionally there is no cost to the contributor or to anyone wanting to view the photos, hard to find in this day and age where everything costs something. Plus this is a great way to have a backup for all those photos you presently have. There are no annoying ads flashing, moving or popping. Particularly valuable are those very old headstone photos that you have in grandma's photo album. Scan them into your computer and add them to the site as they may be the only testament to your ancestors life. Share them with the world. This is link for the Arkansasgravestones.org GPP Arkansasgravestones.org has just come on line. We are presently working to get it setup and we would invite you to check it out. Also, I am asking for your help, please add your photos to the site. Every county will have space. I am your Arkansas State coordinator and I am truly excited about being involved. If you need help in adding your pictures i will be glad to help....another great way to save a grave. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at tootied@suddenlink.net to respond to this message. Many of you know me for my SHARP research. Any one interested in hosting any of the counties i would like to hear from you. For you information there are 11 more states with the gravestones.org sites and more are being added. Thank you very much! Tootie Dennis aka Ira Sharp Dennis tootied@suddenlink.net The following states are currently using a version of the Gravestone Photo Project software: www.arizoniagravestones.org www.arkansasgravestones www.coloradogravestones www.illinoisgravestones www.iowagravestones www.marylandgravestones www.mainegravestones www.nebraskagravestones www.newgrunswickgravestones (Canada) www.newmexicogravestones www.newyorkgravestones www.ohiogravestones www.oregongravestones www.pennsylvaniagravestones www.virginiagravestones www.utahgravestones

    1. [ARBRADLE] Active Genealogy List-Researching the Green Family of Bradley County, Arkansas
    2. Wow!
