    3. I calculated his death date as Friday, Aug 4, 1961, if this obit was published one week later. However, the SSDI shows his death as Jul 1961. 3. I remember that years ago Creed Hardware in Hermitage (Mr. Sel Creed, prop.) sold caskets. Various models were stored in the old warehouse out back (still there) and the door was normally unlocked and open during the daytime. It was a rite of passage for youngsters around town to show great courage, walk in and actually touch one of the scary things. I can't for the life of me remember what I had for breakfast this morning, but I do remember the day over 70 years ago that I finally found courage at Creed Hardware. Baker Peebles

    3. I have an article about this somewhere, but will have to find it. Martin/Moseley were two men in partnership at Warren. Like many of the old hardware stores, they handled many different things. Most of the time they were simply instructed by a family member to construct a wooden casket for a loved one. Prior to Martin/Moseley undertaking, there was the Jones family that established their undertaking business in the 1880s. Decendants of the Jones family moved to Ashley Co. and established a funeral home that is still in service today. Anitaaust@aol.com wrote: Does anyone know where this man might have worked in 1922?
