    1. [ARBRADLE] Willoughby Church
    2. bjw
    3. Barbara, this might be a neat article to attach to the Willoughby Cemetery page. The founder of the church was my great-grandfather. Three Generations Serve Church Here Three generations of ministers from the White family have served in the pulpit of the fifty-year-old Willoughby Free Will Baptist Church here. Present minister is Rev. Gene E. White, grandson of the church's founder, Rev. W. P. White. Rev. Gene White's father, Rev. J. E. White, was minister of the church when the present tile church building was erected. The church founder, Rev. W. P. White, had a highly-successful ministry, according to G. C. Poole, a longtime church official. Following one 1916 revival, the Rev. Mr. White baptised 48 members into the church in ceremonies at Rock Springs on the Saline River. The tile brick building is the third one that has been occupied by the Willoughby Church. The first one burned, and the second one was torn down to make way for the third. Rev. W. P. White died in 1951. Rev. J. E. White is presently serving as minister of the Yorktown Free Will Baptist Church at Star City. 3. This is in response to queries posed by Lee Savage, but might be of wider interest. Lee's questions followed my note about John Holyar Johnson. His son John Holyar Johnson, Jr. is called Jay. Jay is now in his late seventies. He has been married to Isabel (Liz) Davitian, a California native, for 45 years. They have no children. Jay's mother was Mary Rose Boyer, a New York native. She and Jay's father, John Holyar Johnson, Sr., were divorced when Jay was still a child, but he says that despite the divorce, her parents never took Mary Rose back. She was permanently disowned. About Jay's sister, please see the following from my notes: "Of his sister, Della Nanette, John Jr (Jay, as he is called) said she married a man named Clarence Pepper, and the family lived in Baytown, Texas. She was called Dolly. Della Nanette, or Dolly, and Clarence Pepper were the parents of two sons. One is named Jerry, but John Jr could not recall the name of the second boy. Dolly died abt Nov 2007. She was preceded in death years earlier by her husband Clarence". Bradley Co. Eagle Township." My parents mentioned Holly Springs cemetery also, but they thought that my grandmother had said that wasn't it. Remona

    3. I love the Bradley County site, although I never see anything that pertains to me. I enjoy reading about everyone else's ancestors though. Old Elliot Hill caught my attention as I had Elliots in Bradley County and have nothing on them. If anyone in Bradley County is researching the Elliots, please let me know. I also had Irwins at Johnstown. They married into the Pagan, Godfrey, Crawford and Cassline families. I am not sure the Cassline family was in Bradley County, but the Pagan, Godfrey and Crawfords were. My Elliotts were my great Grandmother, Aramintha Ann Elliott, born abt 1834 in Alabama; died bet. 1870-1880 in Bradley County. She was the daughter of Edward B. Elliott died before October, 1850 in Bradley County and Nancy Spencer died bet 1871-1880 in Bradley County. That's all I have on the Elliotts. 3. Jann, Tipton Paul Wear died on 2,April,1962. It must be him. Do you suppose _allace was a nickname? His grandmother was Permelia "W." . I wonder if that has anything to do with his name?
