I've pulled out everything I have on the Johns family and Maurice is not listed. Those two half-brothers of James A. Johns, may be Maurice's line. Maybe someone else will know. Here's another obit, but I didn't date it - drats! George Johns, 62 year old farmer of the Cross River Harmony community, was found dead a quarter mile from his home Saturday morning. Death had come as a result from a blast from a 12-guage shotgun found near the body. Born in Bradley County on Dec. 28, 1893, Mr. Johns had lived in this vicinity all his life. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lettie Mae Johns; two sons, Troy and Lester Johns; two brothers, Joe and John Johns; two half brothers, Jim Johnson and Bob Richardson; two sisters, Mrs. J. D. Stewart and Mrs. Hattie Mae Johnson; and a half sister, Mrs. Ruth Owens. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mr. Johns were conducted at Union Church in Cleveland County on Sunday afternoon by Rev. J. E. White. Burial was in Union Cemetery by Frazer Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Clyde Taylor, Herbert Bradley, Thomas Bradley, Buster Russell, Virgil Rhodes, and Jesse Harrelson. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Nichols, Albert Nichols, James Bradley, Curtis Adair, Mack Wallace and H. Harrelson. edianegardner <edianegardner@sbcglobal.net> wrote: How does Maurice Johns fit in the Johns family (he was married to Bessie Mae Reddin Johns McKinney)? --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. In looking for living relatives on my 2nd great grand mother Margaret Alice Clanton Barfield, I have three who are of the family of Samuel Clanton, one of Margaret's brothers. I am now looking for the children or grand children of Margaret's other siblings, or any one of the Clanton family who reside in the Hermitage- Warren area or anywhere at all. I am also extending my hand to any relation of Stephen Barfield's children and grand children who remained in the area after Margaret and her husband and children left the state for Oklahoma. So pretty much I'm hoping to fill in the blanks of everyone on both sides of the Barfiled's and Clanton's and those who married into the families. I have heard that there were Barfield's in are during the time of Ms. Dubose's mothers childhood, including a Ellen Lanora Barfield who died in 1911. But anything pertaining to Dock Barfield's family in the way of his brothers and uncles, sister and aunts is something that I don't know. I know nothing of what happened to any of his family except how he leads from Stephen down to me. I have the dates of birth for the other members of the Barfield house and that's all. Can anyone help me? Sincerely, Leann Rogers ____________________________________________________________________________________ Never miss a thing. On the subject of Indians... John Hamilton married Catherine Brandon from MS. The thought in our family was that she may have been Indian. Does anyone have any info on the Native Americans in that area, when and where they came from and where I might find names? I know there are many Indians in that area of Eagle Lake, Dark Corners.
