I do believe that Doris was a daughter of Hassie Reddin Smith's . In fact in the photo of the Baker Clan I sent to the Bradley County Website, Hassie is holding a child and I think that was Doris. Here is an obit for Judith Ann Smith Judith Ann Smith, age 48, of Benton died Friday at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. Thanks Ann for the info on Hassie Reddin. Do you know anything about a Doris Reddin? I thought perhaps she might be one of Fred and Hassie's children. If anyone knows the maiden name of Troy Reddin's wife, Clara Evelyn Johnese, I would appreciate the information. Here is a wonderful article about some of the Reddins in Bradley Co., dated Apr 30, 1942: FATHER AND SEVEN SONS REGISTER FOR SERVICE IN UNCLE SAM'S FORCES About the middle of the morning Monday, while local agencies were registering those between the ages of 45 and 65, A. D. Reddin, of Banks was among the registrants. He stated he was 57 years of age, was the father of fourteen children, 10 boys and four girls, and that he had six grandchildren, all of them living. He said he had six boys registered and that a seventh one will register this year. He would like to know if there is another father in this section or in the state who can boast of such a record. The eldest son, Merle, 33 years of age, works in a defense plant; Harold 31, works for the Texas Company in Louisiana; Harvey, 28, is a farmer in Cleveland County; Rufus Randolph, 25, is a member of the U.S. Army, stationed in New York; Thomas, 23, a preacher is at the present time holding a meeting in McAllister, Okla.; Douglas, 21, is in the quarter master corps of the U.S. Army, stationed in Salt Lake City; while Lyord [sic], 18 is working in a defense plant in Little Rock and will register some time this year. In addition to these children, there are three boys and one girl at home and three girls away from home, two of them married. Mr. and Mrs. Reddin celebrated their 35 [hard to read] wedding anniversary the __ of last March. They are well known citizens of the Blue Springs community. Jann
Jann, I found an obituary for Hassie Reddin Smith. Hassie married Fred Smith who died 2-23-1972 Hassie was born Nov. 2, 1913, married on Dec 24, 1929, died on July 26, 1998 Sons: Cecil E. Smith of Stamps J. T. Smith of Texarkana Buddy Smith of Warren Dau: Mary Wilkins of Camden Surviving is one brother Jessie Reddin of Warren and one sister Dorothy Hooper of Beebe 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grand children and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding Hassie in Death besides her husband is a daughter Judy Smith who died May 23, 1997 One of Hassie's siblings is Jewel. Her children are Virgihnia Smith, Sandra, Bob. Stella's married name is Harton. That is the extent of my knowledge right now. I did not get to go to the cemetery after all. It was just pouring rain. I will continue to gather information as I can on this family. Ann

Ark Evangel Mar 29, 1983: Samuel B. Hall, Wednesday at 1:30 o'clock, in the 50th year of his age. Samuel B. Hall formerly of South Carolina, was born about July 3rd, 1833. Perhaps from 8 to 12 years ago he came to our State, and as stated above, he came to our town. About ten days previous to this writing, he was taken seriously ill and grew worse steadily until last Wednesday morning at near 1:30 o'clock, he sank into the cold shade of death. Mrs. Hall is a Baptist, and during her short stay here, won many friends among our people. The death of her husband fell like a dark show upon the soul of our sister, and Oh, how we did sympathize with her as we stood upon the verge of the grave, and consigned her husband, her protection- her all, to the grave. May God in his infinite mercy strengthen our bereaved sister, and in the days to come, as we press along the busy path of life, when we do pass the last resting place of the departed stranger, may we remember that he was all to the strucken heart that still bleeds from the heavy stroke. R. A. Lee Warren, Ark [Will someone explain to me what the meaning is of the last line!}
Mary, you might want to copy this for the church Library. Do you know anything about this Reynolds fellow? Arkansas Evangel 1883. Dear Evangel: We had a splendid meeting here today and also again tonight. Congregations very large and attentive. Deep feeling manifested. So rightly the church ordained to the office of deacon, Brother, _. H. Reynolds, and Brother J. T. Craig was invited to assist the pastor and deacons, in the service in which he did, by conducting the examination of the elect in a very solemn and appropriate manner; and by offering the ordaining prayer, which was heart-felt and earnest. After the laying on of hand, the writer delivered the chair and presented the Bible. Brother Reynolds is a young man, full of promise, and the church indulges confident hopes of his future usefulness. May God grant him grace to do his duties faithfully to the end. Pray for us at Warren. Fraternally Yours R. A. Lee
