    3. Thank you so much for your help. I am searching for Copeland's great grandson who never met his great grandfather. The first James L. family fell away from each other so now finding information is harder than pulling teeth since no one acknowledges anyone else. I couldn't find parents names or siblings names as a result so I appreciate your help more than you know. Again, thank you and Merry Christmas! 3. My grandfather was John Wesley Smith and he had a brother William that was married to Mellie Rotton (must be a middle name?), I think (at least that is what is on the stone). I remember Daddy talking about his uncle Will. Their father was Benjamin Franklin Smith and his father was Cephus. B.F. Smith was born in Carroll parish Louisiana and Cephus was born in Mississippi - maybe Adams county - still working on that one. This Will is probably your Will, but there were a lot of Smiths in Bradley and not all were kin according to my father. Do you have any dates for William or Sherman or siblings of Sherman? Would he have had a brother named Preston or John Preston? 2. I have been researching the Richard Stamps Callaway line to see if I can get into the DAR. I have run into a brick wall so to speak in tying Richard's father, Isaac into John Callaway of Wilkes Co. Georgia. The name "Stamps" runs in the JOSEPH CALLAWAY line and not in the PETER CALLAWAY line as does the name LARKIN which my great-grandmother was SARAH LARKIN CALLAWAY daughter of RICHARD STAMPS CALLAWAY. Have you had any questions about this line and gotten solid answers? If I remember correctly, it was LARKIN CALLAWAY who married JEMIMA BOONE, Daniel Boone's daughter. 3. Regarding (per M.F. Wilson) -- (3) Amos Catherew Savage + Catherine Laque Wolf (2) A.G. Wilson + Catherine Savage (1) Mr. Brown* + Mary Wilson (*wooden leg) -- does anyone know of a direct female line down from C.L. (Wolf) Savage ... such as Mary Wilson's daughter's daughter's daughter? Arthur Hales' gg-gm was C.L. Wolf, and she was known in his family line as being a "white Choctaw." Thus, I would "suspect" that CLW's mother (at least) may have been a Choctaw. (CLW was likely a sister of my gg-gf, John Wolf. Arthur's grandfather, Amos Thomas Savage, certainly looked Choctaw, and he was known to say grace in their tongue.) It is now possible to test mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) for Amerindian origin: namely haplogroups A, B, C, and D. (The male yDNA would be haplogroup Q3.) Being sufficiently curious about it, I would be glad and willing to pay for an mtDNA test of such a female descendant of CLW (female to female). Feel free to contact me if such a descendant is known and is willing.

Maybe I should look in varied counties, apart from Drew Co. In which counties have you looked so far? Similarly, I haven't found one for Louiza's first marriage. She wed in 1877, but had a "D" in the 1880 census. In Alabama, I found a book of divorce records for early Montgomery Co., but my Sarah/Sally was not in it, either, circa 1830. Maybe it's a problem with that time period. I did find a divorce record from the 1930s in Bradley Co. Similarly, I found a mother's permission for her daughter to marry in 1909. The 20th Century brought more complete records, it seems. ------------------------------ Message: 6 Date: Wed, 13 Dec 2006 22:49:19 -0500 (EST) From: MFWilson <mfwilson@peoplepc.com> Subject: [ARBRADLE] Roll Call / Wilson, Savage, Wolf, Lague To: "ARBRADLE@rootsweb.com" <ARBRADLE@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <14505770.1166068159272.JavaMail.root@mswamui-chipeau.atl.sa.earthlink.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Information on A. On the LDS site, I can only find divorce records for Bradley County. They are within the Chancery Court from 1893 onward.
