( Arbour ) Roy, 85, died on Sunday, 1 March 2009, in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Northbridge, after a long illness. Her husband of 49 years, Fernand R. Roy, died in 1993. She leaves 4 children: Carmen A. Glassmyer and her husband, Clarence, of Blairsville, GA, Nelson J. Roy and his wife, Bunny, of Millville, Carol M. Sattersberg of Millbury, and Ray F. Roy and his wife, Linda, of Millville; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Georgette Langlois of Armagh, QC, Canada; and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Julien Arbour of Attleboro, and 2 sisters: Lucille Gagnon of Millbury and Berthe Arbour of Armagh. She was born in Armagh on 29 June 1923, a daughter of the late Georges and Emma (Lemieux) Arbour, and was raised there. After moving to Linwood in 1947, she lived in Douglas before settling in Millbury in 1955. Mrs. Roy worked as a seamstress at the R.J. Toomey Co., Worcester, for several years. Sh! e was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish and of the parish Sodality of the Ladies of St Anne and the St Anne Guild. She was also a member of the Millbury Senior Center where she served as a lunch program volunteer for many years. An expert seamstress, she enjoyed sewing for family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting. Her funeral will be held on Friday, 6 March, from Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., with a Funeral Mass at 10 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 10 Waters St. Following the Mass, she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in St Brigid Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, 5 March, from 5 to 7 pm. Members of the St Anne Guild will meet in the funeral home at 6:30 pm to conduct a prayer service.
