While Alexis was just a teenager, his father Joseph decided to leave what must have been fast-becoming the crowded confines of Ste-Emelie. In the spring of 1899, the whole family arrived on the train in Verner, ON; they then continued on to Lavigne, ON. In 1901, the family was found living in MacPherson Township, ON, which is where the community of Lavigne is located within Nipissing District. That year, Joseph and the 3 eldest surviving sons, including Alexis, worked their farm. In Verner on 10 August 1908, Alexis married an older woman when he wed 37-year old Marie-Louise-Virginie-Angelina CHAMPAGNE. They then had 4 children together, 3 daughters and one son who was born when Evelina was almost 43-years old. Evelina was 79-years old when she died in Lavigne on 02 April 1949. Alexis was 76-years old when he died in Lavign! e on 09 March 1958. Both of them were buried in Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Lavigne. Only one grandchild is known for them.
