Hi my family came from Arkansas to Idaho on the train about 1900 and then on to Oregon in 1919. Living in the Northwest area from Portland. They traveled by wagon train in and around Idaho. In 1952 a wagon train (ox carts is more like it) left the Lead Hill area and went to Oregon, arriving in Oregon City in September of 1952. William DeShields and his wife Martha Elizabeth McBride DeShields were on that train. They left 2 children in Lead Hill. Amanda Jane DeShields Hughey (married about that time) and William Maxwell DeShields who became the first postmaster of Green Forest (I think this is right) the rest of the kids went with them. I know William and his brother, Handy DeShields came to Fayetteville, Arkansas the fall before they left for oregon and filed a claim for their property. Fayetteville was abuz with the people from Prairie Grove planning on going on their trip to California. So, do you know what train they went on and when they arrived in Oregon?
