Looking at a WWI Draft Registration Card, for the address the city is listed as Self, Boone, Ark. When I first looked at it, I thought maybe "self" was referring to himself. I thought this was probably true because the Occupation listed "Farmer" Employer listed "For Self". But then looking at the card further, the nearest relative's address (his wife) is listed as Self, Boone, Ark....Self is always capitalized. I have not been able to find Self on the map. Could someone tell me where if is located. Sue

Sue, it shows on the map to be on Dubuque Rd about halfway between Bergman and Omaha. I believe to get there you would take Cottonwood Rd. north out of Harrison and then turn right - NE - toward Self. Looks to be on a railroad that is probably defunct now but I don't know about that. According to DeLorme's Atlas and Gazetteer for AR, Self is on the railroad line between Omaha, Boone Co AR and Bergman, Boone Co. AR on a diagonal line with Omaha to the northwest and Bergman to the southeast. The initials for the railroad are MINA which appears to begin in Hollister MO. Self probably won't be on any road maps.
