I agree with you wholeheartedly!. If, in fact, the entire history of a particular family is to be kept a deep, dark secret, then why ask for assistance from a free and open list such as ARBOONE-L? As a researcher for every single family in one particular Arkansas county, I can tell you it's hateful to have someone ask for help and then insist that whatever assistance might be forthcoming be hidden from all other researchers.
