    3. Posted on: Boone Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Boone/10927 Surname: ACUFF, ROGERS ------------------------- My Purity D. Rogers b. 1832-1834 Carroll Co. TN married Silas Acuff in Boone Co. AR. Purity was the daughter of Basil Rogers b. 1794 NC and wife Rebecca Rogers b. 1790 NC. Purity Drucilla Rogers, her brothers, Green D. Berry Rogers ( my G. Grandfather ), James Franklin Rogers, Basil Jasper Rogers and perhaps their other sister, Nancy Martin Rogers Fields, all moved to Boone Co. AR in the 1870's. Purity D. Rogers and Silas Acuff had children that may have included Nicholas Mulkey Acuff. I have very little information on the Acuff's except for a genealogy I found today with Nicholas Mulkey Acuff listed being born 1856 who perhaps has a wrong death date of 1877. Anyone wish to exchange Acuff family information for Rogers information contact me at e-mail listed below. Tina Rogers Beller e-mail: jkpb3@bellsouth.net

    2. This information everyone is passing around is very helpful. I would like to contact Mr. McElroy just for the heck of it. Right next to Elizabeth VanZant and her children is a lot of empty space. I fell very sure after reading the other responses that Jacob is more than likely buried there also. Thank you Judy VanZant

    1. [ARBOONE] Bellefonte Cemetery
    2. This is a very interesting discussion to me. It is my understanding, and please correct me if I am wrong, that my Great Grandfather, James Jamison MCELROY, gave the land for this Cemetery. About 25 years ago we found his grave there with the help of a very kind gentleman, a Mr. McElroy. We stopped at a little grocery store and asked directions to the cemetery and as it turned out, his name was McElroy also. I understand James' wife, Margaret Saphronia WEAVER McElroy, is buried by the side of him in an unmarked grave. We were there 2-3 years ago and the stone is so much older, you can barely make out the correct one. There are also some children buried nearby that are the children of James Horace McElroy and wife, Louisa RUBLE McElroy. This Uncle Horace is the son of James Jamison and a brother to my grandfather, Jacob Silas McElroy. A child of Jacob and Sarah Elizabeth YORK McElroy, Addie, is also buried at Bellefonte Cemetery. And some children of a brother of Elizabeth, Thomas Edgar YORK, has children buried there. Hope this may be helpful. Dortha McElroy Greenlee

    3. To those of you asking about a phone number for the cemetery - there is rarely a phone number for an older cemetery. Normally, the best you can hope for is that one of the funeral homes can tell you who the caretaker is. In the case of Bellefonte Cemetery there is a person who just MIGHT have the older records and, as I told Judy, I will try to get that name for you ASAP. Other than that the only other suggestion I can make is to contact the local funeral homes - Holt or Christeson - and ask them to check their records. People were and still are being buried with no headstone ever being placed so one has to keep that in mind, also. Marie List mom Rlvjkv@aol.com wrote: > > I am having the same trouble as Marsha. I will be in that area in about two weeks and would like to be able to check original records to see if my great grandfather. William Franklin WATSON, is buried there.
