You asked about a Paralee Davis....Nancy Paralee Eoff m. Ora Davis in Van Buren Arkansas. Is this the Paralee Davis you are looking for? I can give you her Eoff ancestry, also I am in contact with her granddaughter. Shirley M. Eoff
This is to early for MY branch of the Byrds that came to NW ARK. But there were Western NC names in Pope Co. ARK by 1850. Byrd was one of those names. My Margaret Peterson Byrd's Mother was a McKinney, all from Yancey Co. NC area. Two sons of old George Byrd had started moving west by 1810. Christopher and Patrick, the two brothers moved into Cocke and Sevier Co., TN. I know nothing of Christopher, but have found A Patrick in Rutherford co., Tn and then in NE ALA. Patrick was last found(AT LEAST by me) in an Ala census of 1840. Your Byrd's could have come from one of these families. There has been several books compiled on the Toe River (Area in NC) where these families lived. They were complied by Lloyd Bailey of Durham, NC and some are still in print. He did a great job. Sometime after 1878 my g-great grandfather JASPER ANDERSON of Carrollton, Boone Co., AR, married LOTTIE E. BYRD. I am assuming her last name was BYRD, since I found them in the 1880 Guadalupe Co.,TX census with a J.E. Byrd. It said on the census he was her brother. I don't know who her parents were, the census said she was born in AR., about 1848. Jasper ANDERSON was married to Frances E. MCKINNEY first. Anyone have this BYRD in their family history?
Jerry Gallagher has set-up a Sansing discussion group for all of the descendants for James and Margaret Sansing. We've been able to bring our resources together and fill in missing pieces of information on the Sansing family. Based on oral history, marriage records and census records, it appears as though Johnathan D. Sansing was the brother of Catherine "Katie" Sansing-Adkins, (she married Lewis Davis Adkins). All of the census records for 1800 - 1830 point to a Phebe Sansing (yes daughter of Charles Sansing) as the mother of Johnathan and Catherine. Phoebe is living with Johnathan and family on the 1850 and 1860 census records. Naming patterns and oral history point to a "Tilmon Sansing" as the father of Johnathan and Catherine. Tilmon may have been a cousin of Phebe or he descended from the goup of Senseny/Sensing's from Frederick County, Virginia. Understand these are just theories. If you are interested in joining our discussion group (free of charge), email me at ajanigibson@aol.com Lyle
Do you know any more about Viola Rose Clark? Her parents? siblings, etc.?
The 1880 US Federal Census was "as of 1 June 1880." The enumerators were allowed the month of June 1880 in which to complete it except for large (10,000 or more) cities where enumerators were allowed the first two weeks of June 1880 in which to complete it. If you grandmother were born 3 Jan 1880, she would be listed as 4/12 or 5/12 years of age. If she were born 3 Jan 1881, she would not be listed. Thank you, I also would like to exchange information. My Byrd family was in Buncome, Yancey and Mitchell Co's in NC. Old George's wife's surname was Hutson. Which was used in some lines as a given name. Many of these connected southern families moved west into ARK after the war. They were in Boone and Pope Co, ARK. There is a book coming out soon on Yancey Co. Toe River Heritage BK 3 which has much about these families. I have myself have the 1st 2 volumes and can tell you where to buy these. LLoyd Bailey from Durham has compiled them. My email is jackied4@preferred.com Looking forward to hearing from you. Jackie DeFoor
Could you possibly mean the Rally Hill Academy which was a couple of miles east of Valley Springs? I'm sorry that I don't know what became of their records and don't have the dates of the academy's existance, but it was near the times you mention. I know that students attending Ralley Hill Academy sometimes boarded in the home of my great, great uncle, Pleasant Fowler.
