    1. [ARBOONE] Re: Offer to the list re CA
    2. ron stone
    3. To the BOONE Co. listers: I have mostly been lurking and learning on this list for quite a while. I thank you for numerous insights thus gained. I have wanted to make an offer to the list. I have access to some resources that might help some of you who had people migrating here. I have been using them as a Helplist member here for quite a while now. I should give you a sort of inventory of these resources.. I can check for deaths in the county recorder's office. They are current and as far back as some spotty 1800s. From about 1895 on are pretty good and by 1905 are dead on (so to speak).. There is a film of all death certicates IN SACRAMENTO co. only .... as well as marriages in the county. All California counties have these, but I only can access Sacramento Co. I can transcribe the information and email it to you. The California History Rm has the STATE wide index for deaths from 1905 to 1939 with the rest being on line now. There are some CA soundex census there also There are some newspaper archives from around the state. (I confess I don't do well in Los Angeles newspapers, but always give it a try) Sometimes folks are working on a one surname hunt and I have been able to copy the micro fiche index for that entire surname in the death index. Another fairly useful tool is the current statewide property owner index. It is only for parts of the '80 and '90s though. When I went on the Helplist I was just getting started myself and so only put down look ups on the death index. I can usually find other stuff now. I try to keep the search activity to lunch hours, so speed of answer will depend on volume of inquiry. No fees intended. Copy costs, postage and your envelope would be about it. So, let me know how I can be of help. ron

My great great grandfather was Samuel Dallas Madison Alberta Peterson Byrd or just SDA Byrd. He married Susan Saloma Darr. Both were born I think in Cabarrus County North Carolina. His son or my great grandfather Mose William Byrd married Mary Iona Love. They were both born in Arkansas. I am trying to get all the conflicting dates and birthplaces straightened out. I find conflicting information from different sources. The one I would really like to find out more about is Susan Saloma Darr. I can't find any information on here family. Supposedly Mary Iona was part indian. Can't find any evidence to support this except that my family says she was. Any help would be appreciated. Byrd

    1. [ARBOONE] Gatewaying of board posts
    2. Marie Harvey
    3. Hi, everybody. I think the time has come when I need to know your thoughts on the matter of whether or not you want the messages posted on the message boards to automatically be sent to the list or not. If you have noticed, the link that appears in those I have forwarded to the list have led you to the board where you can find the message to reply to - should you desire - but not directly to the person who posted the message. That address appears in the message once you click on it. At the present, they are coming to me so I can be sure they are formatted properly and nothing that should not be sent to the list gets through. Previously, with the old Genconnect system, they were all sent to the list - gatewayed, in other words, but I had some editing privileges then that I do not have with the new system. I would appreciate it if you would take a moment when you have time to drop me a note letting me know your wishes in this matter - as for me, either way is fine. Thanks for your time. 3. Is there a Carroll Campbell Brown, who was briefly married to my ggrandfather's twin sister whose name was Martha Richardson? Martha and her twin Franklin were b in 1856. Martha and Carroll had a son named Andrew Brown, she must have died in childbirth or from whatever as he (Carroll), remarried within a couple years. Do any of these names show up in your research. I emailed you personally but wanted to get this on the list in case anyone else had a connection. Thanks, Judy

    1. Re: [ARBOONE] History of Boone Co. Ark - need help
    2. Gina, I'll bet the book is a summary of families that lived in Boone Co. I was there some time back and saw such a book with photos of the families. The histories were written by a family member, and lots of times contain a photo of the family. If you will call the library, you'll find them very helpful, and believe they'll look it up for you, even if you don't have the page number. I would be interested in knowing if this MANES family is related to Mary Jane MANES who md. a SWITZER. Have a great day!! Cathy Switzer Conn SWITZER, CHADWICK, TAYLOR, HAMILTON, BAKER, MANES, FRENCH, DOUTHARD, ROBERTSON....to name a few. (All were in Searcy Co. AR) :0)
