    1. [ARBOONE] Mysterious Mandy
    2. Sharon Fulton
    3. My great grandmother was Mandy Jane Thurman, or Amanda Jane Thurman. She was the Dau of Daniel Thurman and Syntha Hill. She was born June 1846 in MO. Where was she in 1860, 1870, 1880? Her first marriage was to a Manord (various spellings of Maniord, Menard, Maynard, etc) I do not know when or where this marriage took place. I belive that she had at least one or more children by Mr. Manord. Possible names of two daughters, Laura and Etta. Others? What happened to Mr. Manord? Would like to find the Manord family that she married into. She married 2nd. James Austin Brown , age 22, as Manda J Manord, age 27, on the 15th Feb 1873 in Boone Co, AR. I have 10 children being born to them. I don't know if any of them were half brothers and sisters or not. I don't know where they lived in 1880. They are listed in the 1900 Census of Taney Co, MO in the Cedar Creek twp, family no. 153 and in 1910 Taney Co., Mo,Cedar Creek twp, family No. 11. At least one of their daughters, Alice Jane (Lisetta A) m. Harry R. Manes. 12 Aug 1900, Cedar Creek, Taney Co. MO. Can anyone help me learn more of Mandy's two families? Until the 1910 Taney Co Census, I had no idea that she had previously been married. Sharon in Arizona - - texsam@qwest.net

    3. No, Dolores, there never has been a Lead Hill in Taney Co. MO. Although only a hop, skip, and a jump across White River from Old Lead Hill, the town was ever known to have done any hopping, skipping, nor jumping (although I'm under the impression it was a pretty jumping town way back when with horse racing, gambling, and such like entertainments). And, yes, Old Lead Hill is now under Bull Shoals Lake. It used to be out on the point where Lead Hill Campground is now. The remains of some of the old buildings can still be seen in that area. 1. [ARBOONE] Re: SWITZER
    2. Recently I was in the Boone Co. Library and saw some information concerning a SWITZER , can't put my hand on the article at present. This man built some kind of a hotel(?) I thought the article had something to do with a hot spring. Seems like he also had some kind of entertainment facility, like a circus. Wish I could put my finger on it. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has a connection to this SWITZER. I have been researching the SWITZER line. Henry SWITZER from Searcy Co., wondered if they are related. Have a great day!! Cathy Switzer Conn SWITZER, TAYLOR, CHADWICK, HAMILTON, FRENCH, SHIVERS, DOUTHARD or DOUTHIT, ROBERTSON, MANES, DORRELL or DARRELL, ALLEN, FRISBY, BAKER, BUSH. All were in Searcy Co. AR at one time.

The Difference a Day Makes... On Monday there were people fighting against praying in schools; On Tuesday you would have been hard pressed to find a school where someone was not praying. On Monday there were people were trying to separate each other by race, sex, color and creed; On Tuesday they were all holding hands. On Monday we thought that we were secure; On Tuesday we learned better. On Monday we were talking about heroes as being athletes; On Tuesday we relearned what hero meant. On Monday people went to work at the world trade centers as usual; On Tuesday they died. On Monday people were fighting the 10 commandments on government property; On Tuesday the same people all said 'God help us all' while thinking 'Thou shall not kill'. On Monday people argued with their kids about picking up their room; On Tuesday the same people could not get home fast enough to hug their kids. On Monday people picked up McDonalds for dinner; On Tuesday they stayed home. On Monday people were upset that their dry cleaning was not ready on time; On Tuesday they were lining up to give blood for the dying.
