    3. John, the town of Peel is in Marion Co AR. It is very close to the Boone Co line, but has always been in Marion Co. Back in 1867, Boone Co wasn't in existence. It was created primarily from Carroll Co in 1869. I suggest you check into information available on the Carroll Co web page for help with your research. 1. [ARBOONE] Long Creek location
    2. Mysty McPherson
    3. Long Creek begins just south of Carrolton in Carroll Co, winds its way north thru Alpena in Boone Co and Denver in Carroll Co. It eventually empties into an arm of Table Rock Lake just below the Arkansas-Missouri border on the Carroll Co-Boone Co line and slightly east of the Taney Co MO-Ozark Co MO line. It's course pretty much follows the Carroll-Boone Co line, meandering back and forth from one county to the other. 3. Could someone tell me where Long Creek is located? A story has been told about a Great-aunt when she lived on Long Creek. The story would have taken place around the mid- to late-1890's or early 1900's. I have information where the family live in the Osage (Boone Co) and Enon (Carroll Co) during this time period, then moved on to Siloam Springs (Benton Co) with possibly a time in Eureka Springs in between. Unfortunately this Enon (up close to Blue Eye) is now under the waters of Table Rock Lake. Thanks Sue Searching for Robison, Long, Davidson, Davis, Ivey

    1. [ARBOONE] Census lookup of the Family of Tinsley Crutchfield Sanders( 1900 and 1910
    2. Hello List- I am wondering if anyone would lookup the 190 and or 1910 census and locate the family of Tinsley Crutchfield Sanders or Saunders. I would like to know the B/D of his children. and place of birth His children: Milton Ben Elton Charlie Harlow Helen In 1911 Elton J married my grandmother, Mittie Thompson, I think he was from Yell county, Ark. I am trying to find a correct year of birth a compete date of birth would prove helpful. Since Elton and Mitties marriage was a short one( she left him) and I suspect after a unknown divorce, he may have remarried. I am seeking further, because my grandfather George Caves paid for her divorce and their marriage. I have no documentation to a divorce to Elton or any marriage of George and Mittie. Any help on finding the family of Elton would behelpful I am desparetly wanting to find information on Elton Sanders for someclues to my own grandparents. Thanks in advance. 1. [ARBOONE] Old Military Road
    2. Can anyone tell me where the old military road was? I understand this was the main road into the Yellville, Lead Hill area in the 1840s. Am I correct? I understand it came through Carrollton, is this correct? Also, how close is West Sugarloaf to Carrollton? I am the world's worst about maps and miles so I need someone's help. 1. [ARBOONE] Re: Old Military Road
    2. Mysty McPherson
    3. Reta, Sugar Loaf Creek in the northeast corner of today's Boone Co. AR. Carrolton is just across the Boone Co. AR border in today's Carroll Co AR about 4 miles southeast of Alpena, Boone Co. AR. The distance as the crow flies is around 29 or 30 miles. There is some disagreement as to exactly where the Old Military Road was. Basically it was the 1838 Benge Trail of Tears which crossed White River into Marion Co. at Talburt's Ferry, went along Fallen Ash Creek and on thru today's Summit, left Summit at today's intersection of RT 412/62 and the Missouri-Pacific and Iron Mountain Railroad in Marion Co, crossed into then Carroll Co. somewhere in the vicinity of Everton, and meandered from there to Carrollton. I've double-checked my memory with what Earl Berry says in "History of Marion Co" as well as the recent on-site documentation done by folks like Don Ott and Bill Wodiel of the Benge Trail research team. It's well known that it never went near the Lead Hill/West Sugar Loaf area. However, there was a road called the Old Salt Road that went from Springfield MO to Carrolton AR, but I'm not sure that anyone has seriously tried to map this old road. Hope this helps. 3. Brenda, Yellville Cemetery is in Yellville, Marion Co AR right on RT 62/412 at the east end of the city. Many, many years ago the name was changed from Layton to Yellville and, today, is known by both names. Dodd City *was* in Marion Co AR. It was a busy place during the 1880-1920 mining era around here but is about gone now. It's northeast of Zinc (in Boone Co) and due east of Bergman (also in Boone Co. 1. [ARBOONE] Schnables Missouri Guard - Alton Prison
    2. If you are looking in Boone or Marion County for an ancestor who disappeared during the war (It would be Marion as Boone was not created until after the war) be sure and check out Missouri. I had a great great uncle who we knew died during the war but we did not know much more. I found him and another cousin in Missouri. They were members of the Schnable's Missouri Guard Calvary. My great great grandfather was corporal in the same unit. So I found 3 members in that unit. My great great grandfather survived but his son William DeShields (William D Shields) did not survive. He died of smallpox in Alton Prison in Alton, Illinois. Anyway, check out these sights for more information on Missouri Confederate http://www.altonweb.com/civilwar contains the database of the soldiers that died at Alto during the Civil War and a short history of the prison also: http://www.missouridivision-scv.org/mounits/schnabelbatcav.htm This gives a list of his units. My family was in company G. Hope this helps someone. I searched for William for 25 years and he is there. Reta DeShields Parton rpsodapop@aol.com

    1. [ARBOONE] Manley
    2. Hi Dolores!! I have been reading your posts for some time now and thought I would respond!! I noticed the surname Manley in your posts. Would your Manley's have come from NC? My gg-grandfather, Thomas Cantrell, moved from Transylvania Co, NC around 1870 to the Lead Hill section of Boone Co. Around this time, a lot of families were migrating from this area of NC and upstate SC to AR (various counties such as Boone, Saline, etc.) I know there were some Manley's in Transylvania Co, NC as I have located them in the cemetery book for someone researching the Manley family. Let me know if you would like these Manley's and I will type them up for you. You never know!!! Patricia A. 1. [ARBOONE] Handy DeShields
    2. Wondering if anyone can help me. I believe Handy DeShields died shortly before March 16, 1899. Does anyone have access to the local newspapers for that time period? I believe he would have died prior to that time due to the sell of his land. I would expect an obituary to be close to that time or at least between February 1-March, 1899. Also, if you have access to the newspapers, could you check to see if there were any legal notices before March 20, 1899? This is the closest I have been to finding out the date of his death. I would appreciate anyone's help. Handy lived in Marion/Boone County from 1840 until his death in 1899. He was married to Nancy Womack. Reta DeShields Parton rpsodapop@aol.com
