My great grandfather, James Jamison MCELROY came to Boone Co, AR in 1870. He and his wife, Margaret Saphronia WEAVER settled near Bellefonte. They are buried at the Bellefonte Cemetery and I understand James Jamison donated the land for this cemetery. My grandfather, Jacob Silas MCELROY, was close to 20 years old when they came. He married Sarah Elizabeth (Lizzy) YORK in 1877 in Boone Co. Siblings of Jacob were: John Weaver, 1842; Jesse Howard, 1845; Mary E, 1848; Nancy, 1853; James Horace, 1856; Walter, 1859. John Weaver McElroy married Sarah Alice RUBLE, 1897, in Valley Springs, Boone Co; Jessie Howard was killed in 1863, during the Civil War; Mary E married F M TOMLIN, 1894, AR; Nancy (Nannie) S married James N RUBLE, 1873, Boone Co; James Horace married Louisa Ruble, 1877, in Boone Co., AR; and Walter died 1865 in NC. Sarah Elizabeth YORK was the daughter of Marcus Alexander York and Adeline Elizabeth CRUMPLER. Mark York died in 1864 in Rockford, Surry Co., NC. Adeline moved with her children: Thomas Edgar, Sarah Elizabeth, and Mary (Molly) York to Boone Co., AR. They traveled with her brother, Dr William Richard Crumpler and Mary Ann COCKERAN Crumpler, his wife, and others in her family. Dr Crumpler died in Nov., 1891, in Mauldin Creek, AR, and buried in Crumpler Family Cemetery in Boone Co., AR. His children were Thomas Newton Crumpler, born1867, in Bellefonte and married to Phebe Sue DUNLAP; and Charlie R Crumpler, born 1869 in AR. Charlie's son was Gus R Crumpler. I will be glad to exchange information. Sincerely, Dortha McElroy Greenlee

Hi Reta, The only thing we have on our Farris is that her first name was Phebe, (called Teba), she was married to William Harmon, her mother may have been named Mary. They were my ggrandparents. They had 10 children, some born in MO and some in Boone Co AR. She was widowed fairly young and moved with some of her married children in 1901-1902 to Durant OK. The only other thing I know is that she was possibly born in KY, some censuses children have TN for her and William but it's KY more times, so... We just recently found out it was Farris not Parris. Thanks to my cousin and her husband for literally turning over tombstones and finding hers. If you have a match that would be wonderful. Judy
