    1. [ARBOONE] Robison Family Reunion
    2. Sue Southard
    3. The decentants from the union of William Wyatt Robison and Almeda Long have a pot-luck style reunion will be held Sat., June 21, 2003 at the Siloam Springs Community Center. William and Almeda (Long) Robison lived in the Osage township at the time of the 1880 census, along with an infant son Riley (who we presume died at a young age as we've found nothing else on him). Two of Almeda's brothers and one of the brother's young son were also living with them at the time of the census. William and Almeda had a daughter, Ada, born in Enon (now under Tablerock Lake). William is reported to have had a blacksmith shop in the Eueka Springs area at some time prior to their settling in Benton Co. William and Almeda moved their family of 6 kids to the Siloam Springs area around 1899 or 1900. Both William and Almeda are buried at Martin Cemetery, east of Siloam Springs, AR. A daughter who was married, Effie (Robison) Blevins, and family also moved to Benton County later. This is to invite any who may be related to either side of this famiy to come join us. We know that William had siblings, but haven't been able to trace anyone down. We're not sure what happened to any of the LONG boys or other members of Almeda's family. We would love to meet new branches of our tree. If you have questions or think you might be a link to either side of this family, please contact me. Sue ssouth@astate.edu

I would like to put names on the pictures, place a digital copy in my files and send the original to the closest family member to that person in the picture. Please contact me at: rpsodapop@aol.com and let me know how you are related to the Drivers. My closest relation to them is Permelia Driver was the daughter of Nathan Driver and Isabella Goad Driver. 3. Reta, the new (wonderful!) "Marriage Records of Boone Co AR 1869-1916" states: Brice DeShields aged 45, of Vinington m Lizzie Gilbert, aged 40, of Harrison 18 July 1904. Bk I-224, L W Wooten officiating. The only other possible marriage is J M Gilbert, aged 48, of Harrison, m Elizabeth Shepherd, aged 19, of Harrison 8 Dec 1890. Bk D-071. L H Anderson officiating. "Marion Co. Marriage Records 1887-1896" by Marian Burnes & Vicki Roberts states: Brice DeShields aged 28 of Elixer, Boone Co. AR m MCAR 6 Nov 1887 Lou Dodson aged 24 of Hampton Township. "Genealogies of Marion Co Families 1811-1900" by Mysty McPherson & Vicki Roberts states (p 120): Lucinda Dodson (daughter of Daniel Blue & Emeline [Denton] Dodson) b TN 1863 m MCAR 6 Nov 1887 Brice DeShields. According to "Marion Co 1890" Brice was a taxpayer in Hampton Township MCAR in 1890. You probably have all this information, but I thought it a bit strange that Brice and Lucinda "Lou" didn't have any kids between 1887 and whenever Lou died before 1904 when Brice married Lizzie. 2. Gina Thomas Patterson
    3. Thanks Jean - What we've gathered from John Bardell Stiffler's pension records is that he was conscripted into Shaler's regiment, and rode with them 4 months at which time that particular group disbanded. He apparently headed back to the Crooked Creek area, gathered up his family that was left and took out for the Springfield area where the Union encampments were. I guess with all the border fighting that went on along the Missouri/Arkansas border, alot of folks bailed out. I read somewhere that after the war, only 4 houses were left standing in the Harrison Arkansas area where Crooked Creek Twp was, and with my family's luck, I very much doubt if one of their homes was still standing! Thanks for the look-up, I appreciate it. I'm not sure right off hand who the M.E. Stiffler who married Glenn Joseph was ~ I'm at work right now & all my "stuff" is at home! ~gina~ --- Jean Mayfield Cuevas <jeanmayfield@attbi.com> wrote: > Hi Gina, > > I wish I had something to share with you regarding > your family, but I > don't. 2. Just thought I would let everyone know the DeShields-Wilkerson Reunion will be Friday night - August 1st from 4pm to 11pm at the Jones Center in Springdale, Arkansas. (They reached as far as Yellville) Would like to invite everyone related to these families to come. Bring the kids as the Jones Center for Families has Ice Skating, Swimming, Pool, Movies, and other activities and it will all be free if you request tickets early. This reunion was scheduled by Bill Wilkerson of Raleigh North Carolina, however you can contact me as I am in Springdale at rpsodapop@aol.com if you have questions. Would like to meet new relatives. 3. I'm ready to pull my hair over these folks ~ I'm hoping some of you listers in the Missouri counties may have more info for me as the Stiffler family was in Carroll/Boone Co. ARK, then to Christian/Taney Co. MO: Mary Jane Stiffler was born 31 July 1846 in Crooked Creek Twp., Carroll Co. ARK (now Boone Co.) to parents John Bardell Stiffler & Martha Ann Brumbelow. She married 01 January 1867 in Greene Co., Missouri to John Lennings. I'm beginning to wonder if I need to order the original marriage record to see if LENNING is the correct spelling of this last name ~ I haven't gotten anywhere with trying to find this couple after the marriage. Any suggestions? The idea popped into my mind after seeing a thread on the JENNINGS family if maybe John's last name is Lanning or Jenning instead of Lenning. 1. [ARBOONE] New Marion Co book
    2. Mysty McPherson
    3. I've just seen the newest book about Marion County AR. Vicki Roberts has compiled and published "The Mining Era in Marion Co AR" - and it's terrific. Indexed, full of pictures - some well-known, many seldom if ever seen, 200 pages, quotes from newspapers such as the Yellville Republican, names and locations of mines and mining districts, names of mine owners. The amount of information - both historical and genealogical - is absolutely incredible. And sources are listed for further research purposes. Much of the story of this era crosses county lines into Searcy, Boone, Baxter, and more so this book should be of some interest to folks researching - or just plain interested in - counties adjacent to Marion. Hopefully Vicki will have some copies at the Ancestor Fair in Leslie 7 June. Or you can order it directly from her for $30 plus $3 shipping. 1. [ARBOONE] WILLIAM WILLIS SMITHWICK
    2. William W. Smithwick, born 1824 in Georgia. His parents were Edmond Smithwick and Piety Skinner Willis. He married 1st Mary James in Campbell Co. Georgia. They moved to Blount co Ala about 1858. Wm joined the Confederate Army 28th Ala inf Co. C in Feb 1862. His payroll records indicate that he was last paid in Oct 1864. ( the records are not all there). Mary James died about 1862-63. Wm. married 2nd to Mary Albright in 1865 in Blount Co. Alabama. By 1870 they were living in Madison Co. Ala. By 1880 Wm and Mary are listed on the census of Boone Co. Ark. The oral history is all I have after that date. We know he moved his family (wife and five small children) to Ellis Co, Tx. There Mary and all of the children died and are buried (no dates). Wm is said to have left Texas to return to live with relatives of Mary James, (by this time living in ARk.) I think it may be possible that he returned to live in Madison Co Ala., where he had a brother. On this Memorial Day if you are attending a graveside memorial or just visiting one of your family members, I would ask to take notice of any Smithwick headstones. Or if you are a cemetery sexton or caretaker reading this mail and know of a Smithwick grave that does not have a headstone, please contact me. My family wants to place a stone if there is not one, and I would like to visit the grave if we know where to find it. It has been an eight year quest. Thanks Carol in Texas
