I sent this earlier this month but realized I wasn't subscribed to this list. So please forgive me if I missed anyone's comments. Can anyone help? Posted on: Boone Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Boone/10829 Surname: Holt ------------------------- Tabitha Choate b.1836 Tenn. was the wife of Joseph Marion Holt. They married in Jasper county, Illinois in 1855. I have been unable to find the parents of Joseph Marion, who was b. Indiana in 1835 according to the Ill. census.
As of 11:30 am CST I found access to the http://www.glorecords.blm.gov site working just fine. The !@#$% hacker had only hacked the "genealogical" portion of this site (the search for land patents). No virus was involved. The basic sight was always OK. And now access to it is back to normal. No need now for further announcing, commentary, discussion, conjecture, concern, right? <whew> He/it was one ugly critter, wasn't he/it. Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com
The addresses can be reached by the "Addresses" link on the Boone County web site at <www.rootsweb.com/~arboone/boone.html>. If these are active cemeteries, you could get a mailing address from the online yellow pages for a funeral home in Harrison. They could give you details on contacting the person in charge of these cemeteries as they have to contact them everytime they perform a burial in the cemetery. Earl D. House
Pretty sure the only Layton Cemetery around this area is in Yellville, Marion Co. There's no manager/caretaker for it. The City of Yellville mows the grass when it needs it and that's about all. And, as of about a month ago when I tramped it, there are no Sanders/Saunders buried there. It's really quite simple to find this. At http://www.interment.net/us/index.htm scroll down to "Outside Links." Under this heading you'll find "Saving Graves." Click on this. You will be taken to a site filled with information, including how to safely clean/preserve tombstones. Good morning list- I am loking for the address of the cementeries to these( Manager or caretaker information would be helpful) Capps. Spears, Alphena, and Layton? Thanks in advance for any help. I am researching the Saunders/ sanders surname. I have checked at the Sandeers cementery, Melodee Melnsam123 @aol.com
Hi Melodee I don't have Maplewood's address on me I to am out of state but I remember going there as a kid after my Uncle passed away. I saw your post and just wanted to say hi. You were looking for Verdi the last time we wrote. Did you ever find out if there was such a town or was it Viola. By looking in Maplewood does that mean you were able to find your kin folk. Good to see your message. Good luck in your search. Here's a URL for those of you interested in cleaning tombstones, preserving cemeteries, finding cemeteries across the country (including national, veterans', military), and bocoodles of other cemetery information. Bookmark it or put it in Favorites or whatever you do with really good URLs. It's well worth it. http://www.interment.net/us/index.htm Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com

Posted on: Boone Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ar/Boone/10825 Surname: TRAVIS, WELLS, MORRIS, PIERCE, RAINS ------------------------- On the 1870 AR. Census for Boone Co. House # 25 is listed as J.W. TRAVIS along with wife Catherine (WELLS) TRAVIS and children Ida and Reece TRAVIS. Living next door to them in house # 26 is J.W.'s brother, David TRAVIS along with wife Nancy A. (PIERCE) TRAVIS and Mary their daughter, age 3, Sarah (MORRIS) TRAVIS (David's mother), Martha, Catherine & Clem TRAVIS (siblings of David's.) Catherine later marries Martin VanBuren RAINS on October 10, 1872 in Pike Co., ARK. On the 1880 ARK. Census for Mississippi Township, Sabastian Co., AR. lived other members of this TRAVIS family who are listed as Joseph N. TRAVIS along with wife Sarah, children Ida L., Russell, Oliver, Sarah E., Mary A., Samuel and Joseph's sister Martha E. Living next door to them was another brother> Milton TRAVIS along with his wife Amanda A. (WELLS) TRAVIS and their children William, Minnie J., David E., Maddie or Mattie B., and Milton's mother Sarah (MORRIS) TRAVIS. Amanda A.'s middle name was most likely Adaline and that is what she may have actually been called by family and friends. It is believed that Amanda Adaline and J.W.'s wife Catherine were both WELLS sister's and the daughters of Zebidee Witt WELLS of Talbott, Jefferson (now Hamblen) County TN. These families were all from Jefferson Co., TN. and apparently left there after the Civil War. Some family later returning to TN. and others appeared to have stayed in ARK. I am still looking for descendants of Joseph, Milton & J.W. TRAVIS. I believe that Mattie or Maddie TRAVIS might have married a David or Benjamine WHITE in ARK. (Possibly Pike Co.?) I live in OK. and our census copies at our historical society for 1870 Boone Co. and 1880 Sabastian Co. are horrible! Do any of you have access in ARK. to these census years? Are they any better there? If you have any knowledge of these families or if you have knowledge of these census years for these two counties, please e-mail me. Many Thanks! I saw a message about Frank Flippo. I would be intrested in what you have on him. I have two each married a Matlock. If one is the same man please contact me. Brenda
Probably the best places for you to look is the Carroll Co AR 1870 census and the Boone Co AR 1870 census. Harrison is now the county seat of Boone Co AR which didn't exist until 1869 when it was created in part from Carroll Co. To the best of my knowledge Harrison was either very tiny or didn't exist at all back in 1864. There is a fairly large Cowan family in the Carroll/Boone area. I'm pretty sure your William Cheek was a neighbor of ours when I was growing up in Harrison. We lived on north Chestnut and the Cheeks lived near the corner of Chestnut and the street that old Eagle Heights School was on. This was in the 1960s, and he was an elderly man. -- PJ -----Original Message----- From: Dana Longley <dana1@avalon.net> To: ARBOONE-L@rootsweb.com <ARBOONE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, March 12, 2001 11:59 AM Subject: [ARBOONE] cheek >Posted on: Boone Co.
