Shearer Publishing has a web site now. Just found the address http://www.shearerpub.com Earl D. House
Shearer Publishing, 406 Post Oak Road, Fredericksburg, Texas 78624, (512) 997-6529 These people publish an atlas "The Roads of Arkansas". This is in a scale of 1/2 " equals 1 mile. The townships are 3" square and the sections are numbered. All roads of any type are shown. The larger towns and the cities have an enlarged city map. Arkansas atlas has over 120 pages in large, about 12" x 18" format. They publish these for almost every state and I have purchased several for states where I have ancestors. They are very useful for locating where ancestors lived and finding things like cemeteries in rural areas when I visit. They are priced from $10.95 to $15.95. Arkansas is/or was $13.95 Earl D. House

Posted on: Boone Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Boone/10835 Surname: Mysinger ------------------------- I left Harrison. Boone Co., AR in 1954. At that time I knew several of the MYSINGERS there. The ones I knew were four brothers. I do not correspond with any of them now. In fact most if not all are now deceased. I believe Edna wife of Fred MYSINGER still lives on Woodland Heights. All of the brothers lived in that part of town when we lived there also. Fred worked at the Christensens or HOLT Funeral home for years. They had a daughter Carolyn. I do not know who she married, but I believe she is still there. Lee and his wife Viola lived on 500 block of South Walnut, in the first house on the East side of the street. Just one block up from the main Highway through south Harrison. Just South of the main bridge across Crooked Creek. They had a very large family. I can not think of all the childrens names. One was Jimmy (the only son) that is why you are having problems. He was one of the two male children of the four brothers. He may still be there. Dianna was one of the many daughters. Ed and his wife Fern (BRYANT)had a daughter named Anna Jane , who worked for the Harrison Daily Times newspaper there for years and may still be there. Send a letter to the editor and see if that helps. I do not remember who she married, but some of the employes at the paper will know. I use to see her when I went back home.Ed may still be alive. When his wife Fern was alive we corresponded. Fred and Ed owned homes. Lee would never buy property, he preferred to rent, so Viola, his wife told me. Brother Frank married a lady named Nancy ?. They had two girls and one son to I believe. I did not know them as well as the others. I do not believe they remained in the area. All of these people and names were so familiar to me. I may think of more later. These would be the best contacts to try to make. (The funeral homes, newspaper and son Jimmie.) I know nothing about their ancestors. I hope this will help.
I too am seeking a lost ancestor~ my g-g-grandfather, Job Tye & his son & wife (John Samuel Tye & Emaline MITCHELL Tye) are all buried in the Denning Cemetery. Job's wife (John's mother) - Nancy McCarty Tye has never been located after the 1860 U.S. Census Boone Co., and I am too wondering if perhaps there is an unmarked grave next to Job's where she possibly may have been buried. Is anyone familiar enough with this cemetery to hazard a guess? I really appreciate any information or thoughts on this. ~gina thomas patterson~ Visit my homepage at http://hometown.aol.com/ginaburningsky/myhomepage/business.html <A HREF="http://burningskyenterprises.com/">Burningskyenterprises.com</A>
Sandi, there are two types of townships. The ones with names are political subdivisions which deal with population equalization for voting and representation purposes in county government. The ones that refer to section, township, and range are the ones designated by the surveyors when AR became a state in 1836. These are the ones used for land descriptions. They never, ever change. They are used in what are called Public Domain states (metes and bounds go with eastern states). There's some excellent information on this second type of township at the Marion Co web site http://www.rootsweb.com/~armarion. It explains how this system works and how to locate the particular piece of land you're looking for. At the moment I'm forced to work offline (ISP has been having on-and-off fits all day <groan>) so I can't check exactly where you need to go to find this subsection. I think it's under "Land Records" but it could also be under "Transcribed Records." You'll just have to hunt for it. There are links to more information too. Check those out - they're worthwhile. Unfortunately, what's on this page (the maps etc) are strictly for Marion Co. To find things in Boone Co, a plat map would be helpful. Usually abstractors have these. But, you can still do some figuring based on the rules. The Range numbers run from east to west - the farther west you go, the higher the numbers. Boone Co begins part way thru Range 18 West (the eastern half of it is in Marion Co). Township numbers run south to north - the farther north you go, the higher the numbers. I'm pretty sure Boone Co starts with Township 17 North. This beginning point will be in the southeast corner of Boone Co where it meets Marion Co and Searcy Co. Each Township/Range contains 36 sections. Each section is one mile to a side - or one square mile. And each section contains 640 acres. Maybe some helpful soul on ARBOONE-L can get to an abstractor and get a plat map, scan it, and send it to the list. That would make the searching lots easier for you - and for everyone else searching land records. Hope this helps. Just be sure to forget all about those townships with names while you're hunting land records <grin>. They have their uses, but not for this sort of search. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Boone/10833 Surname: Mysinger, Mycinger, Micinger ------------------------- In Boone Co Ark, at the Denning Cemetery near Batavia and Harrison Ark is a listing for a Margaret Mysinger b. 1864 and d. 1896, it also states that there is a large stone there with the name Mysinger on it, no other info. Need to find out someone in that area who may have knowledge of any other burials. Or possibly the name of the funeral home there. Michael and Nancy Mysinger and their children moved to Boone Co ca 1876, am trying to ID them on 1880 census, if anyone has look up. Also, have found land to Michael Micinger in BLM in 1890 there, his son Calvin shows ownership in 1895 with John M near there in 1894. Anyone who might have ANY clue would be most apreciated. This has been a real dead end line for nearly 15 years. Thank you
