Billy, My father was a Phillips, and my brothers and sisters were born in Gravette, where I also grew up. Most of my Phillips family lived in Gravette or nearby Garland from approx 1900 on. During this time there were basically only 2 main Phillips families in the Gravette area -- that is to say, all the Phillips' in the area were related to either the Phillips family that came from Columbiana County, OH (my branch), or the other unrelated branch that came from Tennessee. There may have been a Phillips or 2 that wasn't related to one of these 2 Phillips branches, but 98% of all Phillips from about 1900-1970 came from the Ohio Phillips or the Tennessee Phillips. I've checked through all the records I have from my side during the time frame you mentioned, and I can find no male Phillips in the area then who's first name begins with 'V'. I also checked the census records for 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 for a V* Phillips, and can find none. Do you have any other information to go on? Or are you certain his name begins with a 'V'?
