He was captured near Atlanta on August 7, 1864. He was received at the military prison at Louisville, Kentucky on August 15th and three days later he was transferred to Camp Chase, Ohio for exchange. Fairmont Cemetery is located east of Siloam Springs on Fairmont Road.
