What I cannot understand about this gateway business is why in the world anyone who is seeking help on their family wishes to remain anonymous. I have been searching for family for more than 38 years and have quite a lot of records collected. There have been numerous times I can identify with the querist's question and could provide an answer. Then when I go to the gateway board to try to reply, I discover they wish to remain anonymous. Why should I spend hours going through notebooks and computer files to dig out information for an anonymous someone I have already plowed the same ground with in the past? As a result, I usually don't respond. Imogene Bennett Springfield, MO Imogene.Bennett@att.net
Imogene I really understand what you you are saying . I have spent hours searching rootsweb.com I come up with something that connects them with my line . I send them a note wanting to chat about our lines and they never answer . they have just updated it so they are out there some place. . So why did they ever put it on line if they do not want to chat with us. Are you saying this is a group of people instead of just one? Its been really annoying. I belong to several boards but thought all these emails were from one person. Since none of the names coincided with any of mine, I usually just deleted them. The idea that they want information without any contact and that this could be an ongoing situation is irritating to say the least. -------------------------------------------- >From: Loretta Eichmann <leichmann@iw.net> >Reply-To: arbenton@rootsweb.com >To: arbenton@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [ARBENTON] gc-gateway & message board >Date: Sat, 16 Jun 2007 09:01:53 -0500 >MIME-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v624) >X-Originating-IP: 216.254.251.153 >Received: from lists9.rootsweb.com ([66.43.27.45]) by >bay0-mc9-f12.bay0.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.2668); Sat, >16 Jun 2007 07:20:51 -0700 >Received: from lists9.rootsweb.com (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1])by >lists9.rootsweb.com (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id l5GEKlZu010006for ><stoutfam@hotmail.com>; Sat, 16 Jun 2007 08:20:50 -0600 >Received: from mail.rootsweb.com (mail.rootsweb.com [192.168.65.34])by >lists9.rootsweb.com (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id l5GEKkW4010002for ><ARBENTON@lists9.rootsweb.com>; Sat, 16 Jun 2007 08:20:46 -0600 >Received: from barracuda-84.iw.net (barracuda-84.iw.net [216.16.0.84])by >mail.rootsweb.com (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id l5GEKQsf020084for ><arbenton@rootsweb.com>; Sat, 16 Jun 2007 08:20:46 -0600 >Received: from iw.net (mailhub.iw.net [216.16.0.22])by barracuda-84.iw.net >(Spam Firewall) with ESMTP id 1CA8A7DED5Ffor <arbenton@rootsweb.com>; Sat, >16 Jun 2007 09:01:57 -0500 (CDT) >Received: from [192.168.0.101] (unverified [216.254.251.153]) by iw.net >(SurgeMail 3.8f3) with ESMTP id 5610480-1879274 for ><arbenton@rootsweb.com>; Sat, 16 Jun 2007 09:01:57 -0500 >X-Message-Info: >oG9qAjD2BNG0yVlB517PPBHqkqAGjARDucMvwIoh58klcJ563JWu7YxSJZUj1xUj >References: ><061120071836.29173.466D9618000DE7CB000071F521603831169B9B0A02020ABDD20A020A090103B7@att.net> >X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.624) >X-IP-stats: Incoming Last 1, First 248, in=1010, out=0,spam=0 >ip=216.254.251.153 >X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.57 on 192.168.65.34 >X-BeenThere: arbenton@rootsweb.com >X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.7 >Precedence: list >List-Id: <arbenton.rootsweb.com> >X-Loop: ARBENTON@rootsweb.com >X-Member: ARBENTON@rootsweb.com >List-Unsubscribe: ><http://lists9.rootsweb.com/mailman/listinfo/arbenton>,<mailto:arbenton-request@rootsweb.com?subject=unsubscribe> >List-Archive: <http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index?list=arbenton> >List-Post: <mailto:arbenton@rootsweb.com> >List-Help: <mailto:arbenton-request@rootsweb.com?subject=help> >List-Subscribe: ><http://lists9.rootsweb.com/mailman/listinfo/arbenton>,<mailto:arbenton-request@rootsweb.com?subject=subscribe> >Errors-To: stoutfa:m+stoutfam=hotmail.com@rootsweb.com >Return-Path: arbenton-bounces@rootsweb.com >X-OriginalArrivalTime: 16 Jun 2007 14:20:52.0032 (UTC) >FILETIME=[8B451C00:01C7B021] > >Imogene > > I really understand what you you are saying .
