    3. Sue, I did some research on the school you were looking for yesterday before your post. If Belleview was the one you are looking for, it is the one at Lone Elm. I started with the 1903 Atlas of Benton County on cd-rom (which is great, by the way!) One of the great things about the atlas is that it marks the school locations with their district numbers. I then compared these maps to modern maps off of MapQuest, and consulted "Benton County Schools That Were" by Billie Jines. I went out and explored this area also, as I was in the neighborhood. Belleview School (No. 78) was also known as Quaker School. A community of Quakers was at Lone Elm; they ministered to the Indians in the Indian Territory. They erected a meeting house and established a cemetery. Of course Lone Elm cemetery is still there, on Airport Rd. near the junction with Bill Young Rd. (County Rd. 6). According to Billie Jines, during the construction of the school, school was held at Lone Elm Church. I can tell by the old map that Belleview School was on the same road as Lone Elm Cemetery (Airport Rd. today). Whereas the cemetery is on the east side of the road, the school would have been down the road (south) on the west side. Now this is all the Lone Elm area, and is east of Hwy. 59. You had said you were wondering about a school west of Hwy. 59, in this vicinity. The 1903 map shows school No. 77 in this area, west of the KCS Railroad tracks, which are not far west of present day Hwy. 59. This school was Hico School. It would have been on present-day N. Country Club Rd. on the west side. This school continued until 1944 when it consolidated with Siloam Springs school district. Bill Young Rd. (County Rd. 6) is the next road south from Davidson Rd. that you mentioned. You could take it over to Stephens Rd. and that down to 43, or you could just take 43 over to N. Country Club Rd. Thank you for sharing all of the reminiscences about where the old schools were located!
