Greetings Arkansas Researchers, I wouldlike to invite you to check out the Arkansas Gravestone Photo Project and participate in its growth as it will only grow with everyone's involvement. The www.Arkansasgravestones.org i s a wonderful tool to preserve the headstones of your ancestors. With the advent of time and weather and vandalism, our headstones are disappearing at an alarming rate. We need to work on preserving a digital image of our family stones as a fitting tribute to our ancestors. This site is an easy-to-use site that exists to make this preservation possible. Additionally there is no cost to the contributor or to anyone wanting to view the photos, hard to find in this day and age where everything costs something. Plus this is a great way to have a backup for all those photos you presently have. There are no annoying ads flashing, moving or popping. Particularly valuable are those very old headstone photos that you have in grandma's photo album. Scan them into your computer and add them to the site as they may be the only testament to your ancestors life. Share them with the world. This is link for the Arkansasgravestones.org GPP Arkansasgravestones.org has just come on line. We are presently working to get it setup and we would invite you to check it out. Also, I am asking for your help, please add your photos to the site. Every county will have space. I am your Arkansas State coordinator and I am truly excited about being involved. If you need help in adding your pictures i will be glad to help....another great way to save a grave. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at tootied@suddenlink.net to respond to this message. Many of you know me for my SHARP research. Any one interested in hosting any of the counties i would like to hear from you. For you information there are 11 more states with the gravestones.org sites and more are being added. Thank you very much! For some reason the surname list for letters E-H is still not going through. I have sent them several times, once again this morning, and they are apparently still not showing up. I have no control over that, but wanted to explain the situation. I do get a delayed message, but then usually a day or so later, I get an undeliverable message. As I understand it, rootsweb experienced a massive spam attack in October, and list messages on some mailing lists are being delayed. I will assume that these may be some of the lists affected. Wilma

Since I post on these three county sites ( the obits I have), I am posting this on all three (Benton, Washington, Madison Co. ) lists, as I know there are several people who connect to these families, primarily in Madison Co. My sister was here in AR visiting last week to look for some branches of her husbands' family, and we hit paydirt in Madison Co. (Thank you to the Genealogy Library at Huntsville for your wonderful help on Thursday, and the many records you copied for her!) Any way, we spent much of the rest of the day at Kingston Cemetery, as well as stops at Upper Campground and Lower Campground Cemetery taking pictures. After I got home, and because we share data, I started entering information from the papers and pictures into my database, and made quite a bit of headway. Then I started looking for census records, SSDI, some other of my paid subscription sites, etc, and my obit indexes ( the obits prior to 2007 are all now at the NAGS library at the Bentonville, AR. Library), and some that many of you had requested over the past couple of years. Anyway, would love for you all to contact me again, and maybe I have some things and you have some things that would help each other out, and my sister in Central MO. as well! Surnames are Pharris, Fancher, Grigg, Dotson, Cavender,Smith, Combs, Nance, Perry, Sisco, Wilson, Rose, Burnett, Tompkins, Austin, Wright, Eden, Burress Whorton, Gibson, Bolinger, Littlefield, Watson,Howell, Wilkins, Edwards, McAdoo, Miller, Kaylor, Kendrick, Dixon, Casteel, Rogers, Frisby, Parker, Keck, Cook, Dinnerline, etc. The primary surnames from the above list are those that descend from and married into descendents of Wymbert Pharris and Nancy Jane Belle Smtih.
