Surnames: CARR, TINNIN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5U.2ADI/3901 Message Board Post: John A P CARR came to Benton County about 1840 from Mississippi. He was on the 1830 Census at Ball township, pg 11. He started purchasing land in Benton County. He was a County Court Judge between 1844 and 1846, according to Goodspeed’s Book about early Benton County. In December 1849 he started selling his land and by June of 1850 he was in Austin, Travis County, Texas with his wife, son and 4 daughters. I would really like to know if there is any information that could be found on him during his years in Benton County. His wife was Nancy Jane TINNIN. One of the pieces of land was purchased in partnership with a Lemuel TINNIN (TINAN or TENAN). I believe the land was located close to Maysville.
I am looking for the death & burial of Allen A. Hazel. He is my Great Great Grandfather. His wife's were 1. Virinda Woods 2. Sallie A. He married Virinda in Illinois & Sallie in Benton Co. Arkansas. I do not know if Virinda died in Arkansas, but I do know that he married Sallie in Benton County. I have a lot of family that ended up in Benton County. Names I am working on in Benton County: COX & HAZEL. It seems that all of their children married, died, & divorced in Benton County. I sure hope that someone out there can be of help to me. Thank you in advance. Arleen OKC

I have that a daughter was born in Siloam Springs in February of 1883. They probably lived in a tent or camp of some kind. Looking for parents of Isaac Sylvester Gifford. Did he die in Benton County? Would have been between 1883 and 1895. Thank you. Mary

I was looking for my Adams, Glover, Sparks family members. But these can give you an idea of the surrounding. The cemetery is located next to the Elm Springs Methodist Church. It is a lovely cemetery and I believe that there is a caretaker or researcher who does work at that cemetery. Elm Springs is a very small town and I am sorry I do not have that persons name at hand. But, thought you might like a look at the entrance and church. Sincerely, Carole

I checked the online directory at http://www.rootsweb.com/~arbenton/bccpg/bcemdex.htm and couldn't find one Bullion listed there. Were they living near the border of another county? Or perhaps shipped back for some reason to the place of their birth (if it's not also Benton Co.)? Sorry I couldn't be of much help!
