    3. Julie, I too have Lee ancestry (Thomas Jefferson Lee 1809 TN -1886 TN, son of Barnett Lee 1777 VA - 1843 TN), and like just about every other Lee family from the south, mine has the story of being cousins to Robert E. Lee. I believe the only John Lee who was a 1st cousin to R.E. was John Hite Lee (1797-1832), son of Theodoric Lee and grandson of Henry Lee II. My Patterson family of Benton Co has a connection with a Lee family in Benton. Sophia G. Patterson (1853 Benton -1904 Benton) married Effraim J. Lee (1848 TN - 1887 Benton). I don't know anything about Effraim's line. They had at least 3 children, Arthur, Ewell, and Sarah, who married Franklin Tobias Adams. Jim

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5U.2ADI/996.2 Message Board Post: To Janice Mauldin Castleman [email protected] My grandmother was Julia Marjorie Fergusson Hannon; her father was John Lee Fergusson b. 3/7/1876 Bentonville, Benton Co. AR, son of William Henry Fergusson b. 1844 Warren, Marion Co. MO and Antha Lee b. 2/10/1844 MO). Antha was the 8th and youngest child of John W. Lee b. 1810 KY and his wife Martha b. 1805 KY. I have info and census records relating to John and Martha's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The first 5 of John and Martha's children were born in KY; the last born in MO. In 1929 John Lee Fergusson received a letter from his cousin, Robert L. Lee, an attorney in Bentonville who said that their mutual cousin (name unknown) the wife of Major Sneed of the "air service" (U.S. Army's air force?) had compiled a genealogy of the Lee family. (Major and Mrs. Sneed had at that time "lived in Bentonville for more than 30 years.) Robert L. Lee said, "John, your grandfather and my grandfather (same man) was a first cousin to Gen. Robert E. Lee". Janice, I hav! e much, much info on the Lee family of Virginia and I am working on making the connection. I do know that Antha had an older brother name George Sylvester "Sil" . My mother has been working on our family genealogy since 181. I would like to hear from you. - Julie MacGowan [email protected]

A number of denominations used this building which is located on Hwy. 72 East in Maysville. The May-Keith Cemetery is located behind the church but there are no Sutherlands buried there. I did not find the Sutherland name in any of the local cemeteries by Maysville or the four Oklahoma cemteries I have readings on. The Sutherland Farm is located just west of Maysville and has a number of burials but there are only four stones standing and all are named Chisolm.

    1. Access to cemeteries
    2. Sue Southard
    3. Some months ago there was a thread on access to family cemeteries that are located on land now owned by non-family people. Someone cited the way the AR law read concerning this. At the time it did not affect me; I read it, found it very interesting, stored it in my memory (forgetful as it is) as a great article, and deleted it. This issue has come up for a friend and the research she is trying to do. When she was telling me about it, the "dust bunnies in the attic" got stirred around some. The owner of the land has cattle and doesn't want them getting out or being harmed; very understandable. He is very difficult to contact and obtain access to the cemetery. He would rather not allow anyone to visit the cemetery, located in the middle of a pasture, but grudgingly does so if you can catch him. If someone still has this info, please send it to me. I'll pass it along, something in there may be helpful to her. s

My family who had land there were the Wilber and Wells family. This would have been the family of John & Martha Wilber, their son Charles and his wife Rebecca Lockhart. Charles died in 1901, though and Rebecca remarried to a Mr. Gill from nearby. The children of Charles and Rebecca Wilber went to live with their grandparents, John & Martha Wilber, growing up in the Robinson, Wheeler, Marrs Hill areas. My grandfather John M. Wilber and his wife Lily Pearl Wells Wilber ran a grocery store in Wheeling for a time. The Wells family was that of William David Wells, who married Orena (Rena) Rhine in 1899 in that area of Washington County. His parents were John Wells and Alpha E. F. Tate. William David Wells married Orena Rhine, and it was one of their daughters -- Lilly Pearl Wells -- who married John Mitchell Wilber (son of Charles and Rebecca Wilber). So my relatives in the Robinson area and nearby areas are Wilber, Wells, Tate, Rhine, Gill, Lockhart, Walker, and Whinery.
