    3. Frances: I have the Harris genealogy section of a book written by Clarencence A. (Avery) Harris, titled "The Empire Builders Book One and A Genealogy of The Harris Family"; published in 1966 by Adams Press of Chicago. In it, it says we ( Harris) have family in all 50 states The Harris name originated from the name "Harry" and was also written as "Hanrey"and is very common in France and Germany. If we continue digging we may find the connection Debra From: "Frances Pikok" <fpikok@barrow.com> Reply-To: arbenton@rootsweb.com To: <arbenton@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [ARBENTON] Harris family of Benton Co., AR Date: Sat, 31 Mar 2007 14:26:11 -0800 Hi, I am not for sure if we connect either. Carolina. Census records indicate he was still living in Pickens Co. Georgia in 1870. Died in Benton Co. prior to 1880 (can't read date on stone). Is Sarah Darnell, who married Andrew Jackson Reece February 1, 1863, in Pickens Co. GA, his daughter? She is buried in the Georgia Flat Cemetery with Andrew Jackson Reece and William is buried about 1/2 mile away in a small, unmarked cemetery with several others (graves - no markers). He has the only readable stone. His widow, Martha (Brooks) Darnell, is in Benton County in the 1880 census living living in the area of Georgia Flat. Martha Brooks, wife of Isom Brooks, is also buried at Georgia Flat. I appreciate any information on William and his family. Thanks! 3. Sarah's sister, Mary, was my gr-gr-gr-grandmother. I have the following info on their father, William Darnell. He was born in Wilkes County NC in 1810 and died in Benton County AR in 1870. He married Martha "Patsy" Brooks on March 3, 1833, in Rutherford County NC and she died in 1880 in Benton County AR. They had 8 children that I've found born in either Pickens or Cherokee County GA. William's parents were Thomas C. Darnell, born 1787 in Wilkes County NC. He died September 27, 1861. He married Sarah Saunders, born 1792 in Wilkes County NC. If you have any additional info, please share! Thanks, Carol Brown "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Just like my Henry Ford Charlotte Co Va who does not fit into the VA families, there is a Reuben Ford who shows up less frequently that Henry, in court records and such. Reuben and Henry would be of age to be brothers to of John Ford who married Elizabeth England So..one day we may discover they were brothers and so the younger Reuben would Debby ~ This is an interesting theory and anything that will help connect FORDS further back than John Ford SR. of Albermarle and Fluvanna County Virginia is certainly appreciated. John Ford Sr., born in 1762, is my 3rd great-grandfather and his son Reuben (William) is my 2nd great-grandfather, and the latter one moved to Benton County about 1848 or so. This John Sr. had a brother named Reuben, however he supposedly went to Franklin County KY. I'm not certain if he came to E. TN. in the wagon train where John Ford Sr. was the wagon master who led the settlers from the Virginias and the Carolinas or if he came and stayed awhile, then went back to KY. They came through the Cumberland Gap to Grassy Cove so this Reuben may have 'hung around' there until 1851, then went back to Ky. however this isn't proven. My greats on my mother's side are the Maddux and Moon and they are well documented, at least from what I have, however I've not posted much on them online because of this and have concentrated on my Fords these past 20 years. The Maddux families were near Daisy Soddy TN. or Rattlesnake Bend as my Grandmother Moon-Hicks told me. I have quite a few personal items that belonged to Nancy Maddux Moon, my great grandmother. So if you're related to John Ford Sr. and the Maddux Moons, we are cousins too! If you find any new info, please keep in touch and I'll do the same! 1. [ARBENTON] EDENS Question
    2. Gail Lies
    3. I am interested to know something about the EDENS families that were in the Washington and Benton Counties in AR in the early years. Landon C. Edens bought land from one of my Gibsons estate on 12 Dec 1849. Also John Edens signed as security on John Gibsons estate after his death in 1854. L.C. Eaton shows in the 1850 Washington County, AR census in Brush Creek twp. He was 37 and born in TN. His children 6 oldest children were born in GA. Was he related to the Roberts family? I am interested to know what his wifes maiden name was and anything you can share about his ancestors. I am trying to find some connection to those that my family did business with. Gail

    3. Hi Just wanted to let you know that I believe there must be a connection between the John Ford and Elizabeth England family and my Henry Ford's family. Just like my Henry Ford Charlotte Co Va who does not fit into the VA families, there is a Reuben Ford who shows up less frequently that Henry, in court records and such. Reuben and Henry would be of age to be brothers to of John Ford who married Elizabeth England So..one day we may discover they were brothers and so the younger Reuben would have been named for possibly an uncle, back in VA. My Fords in Benton Co married into the Maddux and Moon families as did the John Ford/Eliz. England families.
